Bright Eyes “Ahhhh...Real wind under my wings..Such bliss..” sighed the large Golden Eagle as he hitched a ride on a nearby thermal. Two hours ago, he and his cobra companion, Darkscale, had escaped from a terrible life in a circus. Now he was out hunting for food in this new strange land, while Darkscale looked for a proper hollow to hide in for the day. The skies were devoid of most life, only a stray sparrow or swallow flew past, and neither would make so much as a mouthful for Bright Eyes so he ignored them. It was frustrating really, being the only winged carnivore out here for the moment and no actual prey in sight for miles. It seemed this land was trying his patience on purpose, forcing him to realize that the best place for him and his friend was the circus tent they left behind them. “Its carp really” he sighed once more “There should be someone around here....More eagles at least or some kind of smaller hawk?”.But another ten minutes of travel proved just how pointless this whole charade was. And it was only now that Bright Eyes noticed he thought aloud when he was alone. ”And now I’m talking to myself... Wonderful, guess I didn’t escape that dreaded place completely unscathed. Mental problems, HA!, Lets see those humans try and find us out here!” A lone cloud blew overhead and showered Bright Eyes in a mist of light rain. He feathers became moist and started to smell in a way he hadn’t encountered before. Every time the humans washed him, they used some kind odd liquid in a bottle, and it created a thick foam that they had to keep out of his eyes. It smelled of cherries, or so that is what the female human that bathed him said. Now that he thought of it, he had never smelled a cherry. Nor any kind of fruit for that matter. Always were his meals some kind of small animal that he had to chase and even they were no fun because the chase was pointless in itself. Both he and the furry were housed in the same cage, and the furry couldn’t get away, so the fun of the hunt was lost. But now that he had a chance to hunt out in the wild, it was no fun because there were no furries to be found. “Dull, dull and duller” he drawled, as he took in the barren surroundings, his wings beating the air in a bored, almost memorized fashion. One, two, three....Stop....One, two....Three....Stop... He mentally counted each wing stroke, stopping every three wing beats to glide on the updrafts that blew in his favor. ”So, I wonder who else lives here. I can’t be the only winged predator in the area”.

Oh dear... Yet another boring day, Alanjeh thought, taking in a deep breath of air. She let it out in a sigh. Her sharp talons griping the branch she sat on tightly, she opened her wings and gave a few gentle flaps, rearranging them into a more comfortable position. If only that troublesome zebra would return, she thought to herself, remembering the creature she had met not long ago. Such a funny thing. Competitive, bossy; it almost reminded Alanjeh of herself. She gave a snort. Only I am not nearly as hideous. And to be without wings? What a waste of space....
Perhaps she should look for something to hunt. She was a bit hungry. She could even try larger prey, to give herself a challenge. But would that be enough to end her longing for something interesting to happen? Probably not. Alanjeh was easily bored, and she could set a record for a short attention span. She puffed her feathers out and gave a 'hmph,' her boredom only growing.
Suddenly, the sharpie hawk caught sight of something in the air. She blinked her sharp dark orange eyes, focusing on the golden-brown shape. It was some sort of predatory bird, such as herself. However, it appeared much larger. Although she wasn't particularily curious as to what it was or what it was doing out here, there was no sense sitting around doing nothing all day. She stretched her wings wide, let go of the tree branch, and gave several powerful flaps, lifting herself into the air with the breeze.
Once into the air, Alanjeh pushed her own stamina and strength, rising higher and higher by the force of her wings, depending less on the wind. She could ascend faster this way, but it took much more energy. Though no one was watching, she was determined to prove her own strength, as always.
Her breathing getting faster from the exercise, the small hawk came straight at the other bird from underneath and behind. When the sharpie was not far off, only a few hundred feet, she let out a sharp screech. It wasn't threatening or angry, but was only to make her presence known. She slowed her pace by allowing the the updrafts to catch her gray and white feathered wings. Gliding on the air currents, she grew closer to the larger bird at a casual pace, watching him carefully, but without worry.
"And what brings you out here?" She half yelled over the wind and the distance.

A loud screech behind Bright Eyes made him jerk his head around to see who was tailing him. It was a female Sharpie hawk and she soon added to her screech with a very good question. A mild shrug was all he could manage at first, being a little shocked from the sudden appearance of this little hawk and at the same time...I little shy... She was the first female bird he had encountered and now he didn’t have the pleasure of being the top bird of the pack...He was in the wild now, not in a circus with birds that looked up to him because he was bigger, badder and perhaps a lot smarter than most.
But four wing beats later he decided not to be rude. ”I’m hunting...Not sure what though..New to this place really” he almost let the wind carry the last bit of his speech away, but though better of if. If he was in her place, he would want to know if the bird in front of him was new or not. ”What is this place anyway, I’ve never seen so much land without humans on it before...Of course I haven’t seen much free land anyways...Been kept indoors most my life” Bright Eyes posed his question while dragging his wings on the wind, so that he and the Sharpie were side by side, though he flapped a little to one side so that they were not so close. Size wasn’t really a big thing to him, but he didn’t want to make it seem like the hawk was an intended meal.
She was beautiful for her species, he hadn’t seen many in the circus, but the little he did remember of his past was full of other birds of prey and none of them rivaled him or her in their splendor. But an idea hit him, perhaps her beauty was a ruse? ”Been here long...I mean...How long you been following me?” The hint of amusement that had been in his voice ever since she showed up, vanished suddenly with that question. Perhaps the sharpie was hunting him? Maybe, though it was a stupid idea really, but just maybe she was one member of a pack? A pack of raptors out hunting for food...Now he was on edge and he puffed out his feathers to make himself more of a presence to reckon with. Eyes darting left, right, down and above in search of the other birds that might be waiting to strike.

Although the other bird, which could now be identified as a golden eagle, did not hesitate for long, it was long enough to make Alanjeh become impatient and annoyed. When he answered, all of her annoyance vanished, replaced by a sneering smile and a short, sharp laugh. Already he sounded like a waste of feathers. Not knowing where he was and, in general, being new to the land was forgivable, but living indoors?
"Indoors?" Alanjeh repeated, a cruel tone of amusement in her voice. "Such a waste to spend one's life indoors, when you could be flying around out here," she said, sounding slightly nicer. The hawk didn't mean to be rude, exactly, and she knew it probably was not his fault he had spent his life inside, but she found it amusing and couldn't keep that snide comment to herself. The sneer remained on her face a moment longer, then she let it go and spoke again, sounding almost casual. "No, no humans ever come here. The pathetic creatures cannot enter. No one knows why for sure, but they do not come here. This land is called Amanija. And, while there are no humans here," she said, the sneer returning to her face and voice, "there are certainly some less than intelligent creatures here." It was hard for her to use the phrase 'less than intelligent' rather than blurting out every insult she could think of. But, she was feeling somewhat nice for once. After all, the poor non-birds were pathetic enough that one couldn't help but pity them and feel sorry for their lack of wings, once in a while.
When he spoke again, Alanjeh's face turned from cruel amusement, to a dangerous glare, her dark orange eyes narrowed and a frown across her hooked beak. She had an urge to let out another shriek and gore the back of this insolent bird with her talons. As he looked around suspiciously and puffed his feathers out, Alanjeh got even more annoyed. She puffed her own feathers, more out of irritation than trying to be intimidating. She was so offended that she was out a lost for words, and one could see her fury rising in her eyes and in her body language. She seemed to swell with anger, then, she spoke.
"How dare you!" She snapped rudely, giving a dangerous glare. "I haven't a need to waste time following the likes of you. I just thought I'd fly up for a chat. To suggest such a thing! I had no ill intentions but you might find that has changed now!" She said, yelling the last part. In her fury, she stopped gliding on the updrafts and relied only the fast, powerful beat of her wings to keep her in the air. She gave a 'hmph' that came out sounding more like a blurred growl of speech and looked straight ahead of her, acting as if the eagle were not there. Beating her wings harder, she pulled ahead of him, intending to leave this inconsiderate bird behind her. She was not going to waste any more of her time talking to him.

With each of her responses the hawk gave away her personality, and what a nice one at that. And her final word only made him shrink from her with some fear. ”Wow, she sounded like Darkscale when I ask him too many questions”. Yet again Bright Eyes noticed he was thinking aloud. The hawk had piqued his interest in her and he wasn’t about to let it slide that easily. He would find someway, someday to get her in a conversation...but not now, she was too much of a firecracker to tame on an empty stomach. With two mighty flaps, Bright Eyes gained some altitude and then tucked his wings in and twirled backward into a barrel roll. She was right, he should not have been denied of such free air. Indoors was no place for a bird of prey...No place for any bird really. The wind whistled past his ears as he picked up speed, not at all showing off for the other bird; he had just spotted something moving on the ground and he was too hungry to let the other get it first.
Bright Eyes tucked his wings in more so that he could gain more speed and shut his eyes for a second to clear the stinging of the wind in them. Wow, is this what it is like all the time around here? So much wind... So hard to fly in it. One of his wings drifted out from his body and he slowed a little. But the ground was still rushing up to meet him. The object he had seen before was a small mouse, and it was not much of a bite for him, but for the hawk, it might be a two course meal. But, she will have to fight me for it...Or will she? Again he though of the possibility of more birds nearby and started to wonder if he should cease the chase. Such a small meal isn’t worth getting into a fight over...And what would Darkscale say...Wait, Darkscale.
I will catch it for him, that’s what I was suppose to be doing anyways was scouting for food. Slowly he extended his legs out toward the mouse, who dodged the feeble attempt to end its life with considerable ease. Bright Eyes’s talons closed a moment too late and he watched the mouse dart off toward a hole. The chase was still on. Bright Eyes flapped to keep himself airborne and from running into the ground. What it resulted in was a movement that resembled a kind of jumpy dance, as his feet made contact with the ground and he bounced back into the air.
The mouse was still getting away and deep down inside, Bright Eyes wondered what it looked like from up there, an eagle, being bested by a mouse. He mustered all his strength and flapped hard four times, getting a good height over the mouse before he would try to grab it again.

Redlock wondered the barren plains, his tongue lolling out of his mouth as the bright sun beat down on his black fur. Each step he took was long and laboured, but he had been in much worse shape and still carried on, so he wasn't worried. A loud screech was heard in the distance and Redlock forgot his troubles, snapped his neck up and focused his eyes on the two specks in the sky. He was sure the screech came from one of them and he watched intently. It was seen that they were having some sort of conversation and Redlock began to ease. His muscles relaxed slightly as he kept padding along the lifeless plains in search of a meal.
As he kept on walking, his hunger grew. The last rodent he ate barely registered in his empty stomach. He scanned the lands for any sign of movement, and there in the distance a small little field mouse could be seen. Redlock sighed, but wasn't about to pass up a meal. He instantly went into stealth mode and silently padded for a closer look. The mouse was oblivious to his presence, as all animals were when Redlock began to hunt. He used the spiney bushes as cover as he began to stalk the mouse. He was just within striking range when his ears twisted to better hear the faint sounds of one of the birds from the sky swooping down. Redlock let out a twisted growl filled with annoyance, giving away his postition. The mouse was alert now and it made it easier for it to dodge the bird. It gave chase and the hawk began to position itself for another attack. Instantly Redlock was competitive and wanted to claim the prize - the mouse - for himself.
Leaping from the bushes, right infront of the mouse, Redlock let out a deafening snarl, barring his large teeth. He landed with grace a few meters infront of the small rodent and let out a gutteral chuckle. Normally he wouldn't be so theatrical in his hunting techniques, but he was determined to beat the hawk in style. The mouse let out a terrified squeak and darted in a different direction, Redlock looked up to the sky at the hawk, You're going to have to do better than that to beat me" he snarled and darted after the mouse.

((OOC: And now the plot thickens.... Welcome to the thread LoneSoul)) Just before he could attempt another shot at the mouse, a large black wolf leapt out from behind the bushes and snarled at the mouse. This sent Bright Eyes’s prey running in the wrong direction and forcing the large eagle to land on the ground to prevent a collision with the wolf. Eyes glaring, he lifted his right foot off the ground and pointed a large black talon at the retreating form of the mouse. “You’re lucky this time rodent...Lucky I don’t feel like fighting over you”. He then turned his attention to the wolf and held his mouth agape in stunned silence at the wolf’s remark. Was everybody here so hostel? The wolf darted away after the mouse, leaving Bright Eyes in the dust. “Right....You...Right....I’ll just...You’ll..” he sputtered while trying to get off the ground again. Flapping his wings hard, the eagle took off from the dust covered ground and came flying at the wolf, talons extended, beak open, eyes full of malice. Just before his right foot could make contact with the tail of the wolf, Bright Eyes veered to the left and headed the mouse off, forcing it to hide beneath a large rock. Not that it could stay there for long without being driven out, the rock was only big to mouse....Any house cat with half the intelligence that the maker gave a toad could turn it over. “Ha! Got you cornered now don’t I?” he snapped while trying to perch himself on a fallen tree. Bright Eyes looked the wolf straight in the face and laughed. “ Gave me quite a fright there when you came out from behind that bush, thought you were after me there for a second.” Darkscale Idiot....Stupid as a speck of dirt...Flying like that, no wonder the beast got away. The large black serpent huffed mentally as he glided over the hot ground. The sun was bouncing off his scales as if he were made of water, the light danced on the ground before him like pieces of glass that had been scattered in the wind. Fifteen minutes he had been watching that young bird make a fool of himself, and now he had to mix it up with a Sharpie and a Wolf....Excellent. Darkscale flicked his tongue off the dirt below him, the scents of many a rodent and large fowl littered the area. It may seem empty now, but come nightfall, all the hunters would be awake and quite numerous. Such careless conduction, what was he thinking? Not my first choice of action while being watched by another hunting raptor...What was he doing...Showing off no doubt. The mouse flitted under a rock at the last second, forcing his young companion to land on a log nearby. Now what’s he doing? Going to strike up a conversation with that wolf? Idiot. Bright Eyes, sometimes I wonder just how bright you really are...Not shining to the best of your abilities at the moment that’s for sure. Darkscale threw his tail into his movement, thrusting himself forward at a much quicker pace, perhaps he could get there before any trouble could start between the two of them. “Why hello Bright Eyes, what have you got trapped under that rock? Not something that belongs to another fellow now it is?”. His voice had a nice southern drawl to it, very slow and dangerous. Yet he looked over at the bird with a slight smile, as if he found the whole thing quite amusing. “And who is your friend Bright Eyes? Someone I might want to meet?” he said even lower, his voice displaying his great displeasure at having to play referee in this child’s game. But the smile lingered, as if he was trying to unnerve his feathered traveling companion, who knew all to well what that smile meant.

Redlock pulled up short when the mouse dived under the rock, dust kicking up from the skidding of his hind legs. He shook the excess debris from his coat, keeping his head lowered and ears pinned to the nape of his neck. It wasn't so much that he was threatened by the large bird of prey, rather that was how he learned to respond to anyone new. "Don't relax too much, I haven't had a good meal in ages," he chuckled but the undertone in his voice wasn't quite as joking. As if to mirror his words perfectly, his stomach let out a low grumble, Redlock just smirked. His hackles began to smooth slightly when the threat of attack lowered as the bird remained perched on the log but Redlock was always cautious and his stance was casual yet ready to pounce.
The sound of an unfamiliar voice sent shivers down Redlocks back, causing him to jump and turn to the direction of the visitor. A sharp growl escaped Redlock's mouth and immidiately he was suspicious of the pair. Was this an ambush? His hackles raised to full hight and his center of gravity lowered considerably. Keeping his mouth set in a permanent grimace, his large set of teeth exposed, he focused his eyes on the glistening figure of the snake. "I am Redlock, and who might you two be?" he snapped, perhaps a little to hastily but something about the snake made Redlock nervous. Keeping his distance from the pair, his golden eyes darted between the snake and bird. He couldn't help but think it was a strange pair, but only suspicion registered in his eyes.

Alanjeh was both pleased, and steamed, that the eagle had not followed her or tried in any way to stop her from flying off. On one hand, she was thankful he was not bothering her and had good enough since to stay away for his own well being. But on the other, he let her leave, as if he didn't care that the most beautiful creature in sight was leaving, likely never to speak to him again. How could he let one as wonderful as herself vanish without asking her, begging her to come back? She gave a highly irritated sigh. Although she could never admit it to herself, even in mental words, she knew no one, not even this bird, was stupid enough to beg a fellow raptor he had only just met. But he should want to, she thought, after her mind briefly touched upon the subject.
Who does he think he is, anyway?! What a fool! And how rude! The sharp-shinned hawk thought, her mental tone acidic. Even now as she slowly calmed and let the winds carry her across the skies, she couldn't put her frustration into words. She satisfied herself by throwing together a very long string of insults. ...idiotic, unthoughtful, ungrateful, plant-eating, clumsy-flying, dumb-as-a-dog, completely-undeserving-of-wings, unoriginal, bat-faced, toad-breathed, swamp-smelling, egotistic, fat-headed- Suddenly, she cut off, as the faint sound of a growl down below caught her attention. Although she didn't particularly care what it was, she absentmindedly glanced down, only to see the same bird fighting with a wolf over a small morsel of meat. Alanjeh could barely hold in her laughter in as a snake slithered out of it's hiding spot. And now the big idiot's in trouble. What a waste.... She thought, the last part in mock sincerity. Suppose I had better go rescue him... Or maybe not... She added with a smirk.
After watching for a brief moment, frustrated that she couldn't hear them over the wind, she thought for a second, then nodded to herself. She half-folded her wings and tilted her beak toward ground, coming into a fast dive. She was too nosy to ignore this moment. She wanted to know exactly what was happening. As she picked up speed, she decided to have a little more fun with her current object of strong dislike.
Falling at more than a hundred miles per hour, she closed the distance between herself and the eagle very quickly. Once close enough that he had no time to fly away from her, Alanjeh let out another screech, something she was known for doing in nearly all situations. She separated her clawed toes, as if going for the neck of the golden-brown bird. Only centimeters from him, she redirected the angle at which her beak was pointing, using the momentum and several hard flaps of her wings to avoid even touching him at the last moment. She flapped her wings just enough to flutter over to a spot on the ground, not too far from the group of animals.
Looking thoroughly amused, the bird jeered, "gotten yourself into trouble already? It should have been considerably easy to catch that mouse before that wolf even had a chance, at least, for a proper bird." She either didn't realize she was making herself a mutual enemy, or she just didn't care. Giving a sigh and a shrug of the joints where her wings were connected to her feathered body, she spoke in a mock casual voice. "But, then again, we can't all have a purpose in life."

Bright Eyes Bright Eyes recoiled at the harsh reality that was unfolding before him; he might still be on the menu after all. Just when he thought the wolf might act on his words, the familiar southern drawl that belonged to his scaley pal put his fears to rest. The wolf showed an immediate raise in his threat level assessment, this only added to Bright Eyes’s worry and what made it even worse was the sudden and quite attack like arrival of the Sharpie that had been tailing him sometime ago. But he could only lighten the mood by giving his name...Right? “I’m Bright Eyes, I’m new around here” he left it at that, seeing as Darkscale would introduce himself when he felt like it. At the moment, however, the Sharpie was more of an interest to him. “No, I don’t think I’m in too much trouble and that mouse was turbo charged with sugar I tell you, it wasn’t my fault he was quicker.”. His voice had started off in a sort of happy-go-lucky way to her first inquiry. His feathers all a ruffle with some kind of pride in trying to make a joke of the matter. But at the Sharpie’s last words, Bright Eyes’s voice took on vicious tone and his eyes flashed with anger. “I do have a purpose miss perfect, I just have to find it.” Bright Eyes spread his wings and took off from the log, flying only a few yards away to a nearby boulder before landing on it with his back to the group. He sat hunched, like a buzzard that was watching something die very slowly in front of it. He wanted to cool off his hot temper, if he didn’t his hunger might drive him to eat the hawk instead of waiting for the mouse. It was also an excuse to let Darkscale smooth things over. The serpent had a way with problems, if he could talk an eight hundred pound lion out of eating his handler, then he could talk to these two animals and perhaps make some new friends. Slowly, so that nobody really noticed, Bright Eyes looked under his shoulder at the group and listened to the conversation he was sure would follow. The picture that was painted by this pose was of a large feathered dragon about to whip around and snatch a knight out from under him. Darkscale Darkscale inclined his head toward the wolf when he introduced himself. Then coiled himself around the rock that held the mouse under it to keep the critter from escaping while they talked. “Pleasure to meet you...I’m Darkscale, and you have now heard who my companion is. Forgive him, he is young and naive.” he let his voice become a whisper at his last words, not so much to keep Bright Eyes from hearing, but more because he couldn’t stand to hear himself say it to an animal he had just met. It hurt him to have to apologize for the actions of his young friend, mainly when such actions were harmless play and didn’t require an apology. But just to be on the safe side, he always did. The announced arrival of a Sharpie hawk made Darkscale tighten his grip on the rock he was sitting around, just to prevent his instinct of striking from taking over. Even though he had no real intention of biting either of the animals before him, he still puffed out his hood and let a dangerous hiss. “You’d better be careful little hawk, even mock attacks can be misunderstood.” The hawk then started to rattle out insults, one of which Darkscale agreed on, Bright Eyes should have been able to catch the mouse. “No, You’re not in too much trouble at the moment my friend, but just wait until we get home. And it was adrenaline the mouse was experiencing, not a sugar overload, even you are smart enough to know that.”Darkscale would have said more on the matter if Bright Eyes hadn’t picked that moment to fly off and roost on the rock beyond. His attention then changed to the Sharpie rather quickly at her last comment, and he let a curl of his lip expose a dark pink gum that housed one of his fangs. His eyes suddenly very alert with a hungry glare that had not been there before now. His voice was quick, higher in pitch and much thicker in accent as he spoke.. “Careful, careful now, you mustn’t be so rude. Rudeness is an epidemic that has many cures, and most of the remedies are the speaker’s undoing. And I do hate rude people and animals. The last human that was rude to me was rushed off to the hospital and never returned... While the last animal to do so became my meal.”. He uncoiled slightly at the touch of the mouse, who was trying to figure out what was covering the hole he had chosen to hide in. When the snake moved, however, the mouse ceased his actions and returned to the depths of the small world below. “Perhaps we should change the subject of this conversation before one or all of us wind up in a brawl, and I would hate to mar my current state with blood. Tidiness is once of my specialties and I practice it frequently.”. Darkscale’s goal was not so much to scare the other animals into submission, but to warn them against making him mad or uncomfortable.

Redlock focused on Bright Eye's as he introduced himself, his rippling muscles still tense from the threat of attack. The sound of wistling wind as the Sharpie hawk decended with extreme grace made Redlock look up. The birds intentions looked more deadly then Redlock was prepared for and he flattened his entire chest to the ground, his hind legs ready to spring at any moment as he watched the bird pull up short, barely missing the eagle known as Bright Eyes. The next procession of actions made it clear to Redlock that the Sharpie hawk was not intending to harm Bright Eyes, or himself, and he was able to raise of the ground slightly.
Whilst he was sure the bird wasn't going to harm him, he was furious that the hawk thought that was an acceptable way to act with a group of could-be killers. To further annoy him the bird had to make a snide comment thinking that a bird could beat Redlock to the mouse. His fur bristled at this comment and he snarled in the smaller bird's direction, "Careful little birdy," he snapped, "I was going easy on Bright Eyes over there, but rest assured I could easily catch and kill you before you even had a chance to ruffle those fluffy little feathers of yours." The comment following the one that made Redlock so angry he had to swallow the acid building in his mouth, seemed to hit a strong nerve with Bright Eyes. Redlock chuckled, this little bird seemed to be making enemies with everyone.
When Bright Eyes flew over and rested on a boulder, Redlock controlled his instincts to turn and attack the unwise hawk. This isn't your fight, careful now, that snake is with him.. his thoughts always the voice of reason. As the snake began to speak to the little hawk, Redlock couldn't help but agree. He nodded absentmindedly to the comments being made. Yes little hawkie, Redlock began to mock, You really shouldn't be so rude, and thoughtless.. You may think just because you have wings you're much better than me, but look who's on the ground now.." Redlock smiled, showing his long rows of sharp teeth.
“Perhaps we should change the subject of this conversation before one or all of us wind up in a brawl, and I would hate to mar my current state with blood. Tidiness is once of my specialties and I practice it frequently.”
At the words of the wise snake, Redlock begrudgingly turned his attention to the snake, using his periferals to keep an eye on Bright Eyes. "What brings you to these parts? It's been awhile since I've met other animals that weren't on my menu." he added the last part for Bright Eyes's benifit. Still on high alert, mainly due to the naieve hawk, Redlock couldn't relax fully but lifted his stance to an awkward standing position.

When the eagle answered her with an excuse, Alanjeh chuckled darkly. What a pathetic excuse! He's just a useless bird trying to act useful, she thought. When he snapped at her last comment, she chuckled again, quieter this time. "A bird without a purpose is pathetic. If you haven't found one now, you never will find one. That makes you just useless!" She sneered, thoroughly amused. "And yes, I am perfect, thank you," she added. She didn't really mean it. She was just purposely being a smart alec now. Though it was no secret that the hawk did indeed see herself better than everyone else. As the eagle flew off and sat, looking much like a vulture, the sharpie laughed loudly, coldly. So much so in fact, she surprised herself. But she tucked any guilt she felt from it away and kept on laughing for what she deemed as an appropriate length of time.
As the snake spoke, hissed and flared his hood, then spoke again, Alanjeh briefly became fearful of him. She let out a quieter, shorter, but equally as high pitched and ear piercing screech of nervousness. She flapped her wings, without turning around, in what was a hoppy-fluttery, backwards movement. She came to a stop in a few wing beats when she had put herself a good ten feet further away from this dangerous looking serpent. She felt embarrassed by her momentary fear, and gave yet another 'hmph!' To the others, it would probably be taken as an offended, irritated gesture for disagreeing with her. That was what she meant it to look like, in an attempt to make her hoppy-fluttery thing into a gesture of annoyance.
As the wolf threatened her, Alanjeh grew more angry, rather than nervous, this time. When he mentioned her being on the ground, it only made her oh so much more annoyed. "Yes, but I can fly anytime I want to!" She snapped. Without hesitation, she beat her wings hard until she was out of reach of the black canine, due to the height. She flapped more slowly then, making her way to a tree in the distance. She landed one of the lower branches, though she felt quite safe, for even the lowest branch on the large tree was about ten feet above the ground. She turned her back to the group, holding her head high in the air like a stuck up little brat. She gave an irritated flick of her tail feathers, then ignored the completely. Or so, that's what it looked like. In reality, she listened closely to what they were saying, curious as to whether or not they would talk about her or what exactly they would talk about. A few of their words were indistinct, due to the distance, but she picked up most of what they were saying.
((Eh sorry kinda tired right now, so it's not my best post.))

Bright Eyes Bright Eyes smirked when he saw Darkscale handle the Sharpie with a less than careful approach. And smiled even more when she finally flew off to a tree and mimicked his ignoring-the-group gesture, though her head was held high while his hung low in a threatening way. “Nice one guys, maybe that’ll teach her to be so stuck up” he mumbled to himself. The sun was starting to get lower in the sky and Bright Eyes’s stomach gave another loud rumble in an effort to force him to hunt. Ah well, time to get dinner.... He took off from his perch, diverting his course so that he came around the back of the rock he had been sitting on and faced the tree that the Sharpie was sitting in. Flapping hard and quick, he gained more height above the chatting group and looked down at the lone hawk. Bright Eyes let out a hunting call and continued to circle the area near the “one tree”, his call was an invite to the Sharpie to hunt with him. Well I guess if I have to live here, I should be making friends not enemies... He didn’t expect the hawk to respond nor even take him up on the offer, it was just his way of saying “Alright you win, can we be friends now and get something to eat?”. As if to push the idea of a hunt, his stomach growled again, scaring the eagle temporarily because he thought the wolf had somehow grown wings and was chasing him. But a glance down below shook this idea from his mind when he saw the large canine talking to Darkscale. Darkscale Darkscale smirked at the Sharpie’s response to both of their comments and tilted his head toward Bright Eyes, who had taken off from the rock and flown quite a ways above them. “He rescued me. Both of us were capture from the wild by a bunch of humans, forced to work in a circus for the entertainment and finally had enough...Those humans placed us both in the ring at the same time, trying to combine our acts and Bright Eyes took advantage of it” He focused all of his attention to Redlock at this time and started to smile in a very sly way. “As for not being on your menu, I’m quite glad to be placed above the level of food, but I will give you the respect you deserve as a hunter, seeing as you can still eat me.” he chuckled a little and then turned his views to the hawk . “What makes a bird like that tick I wonder? How can she still be alive with an attitude such as hers.... Oh well, we can’t all be polite or there would be no one to entertain ourselves with”Darkscale uncoiled from around the rock upon hearing the mouse making it’s way back up from its safe zone. He hid behind the rock and pointed his tail toward where the mouse would be appearing shortly. “Shall I? Or would you like to?”. It was a simple gesture, either he would eat the mouse or the wolf would, he was giving the wolf the choice, seeing as he was the bigger predator and Darkscale wasn’t starving....Yet.

Alanjeh sat quietly, eyes closed, brooding. She had no intentions of going back there, and would have even left the area perhaps, had she something else to do. But as it was, she had nothing to do on this boring day, and she was curious as to what they would say. However, the longer she sat there, the more her mind drifted from the conversation to her thoughts of hatred of the eagle named Bright Eyes. Hmph... Bright Eyes... What a stupid name, she thought to herself. Soon enough, her hatred was beginning to leave and she was getting bored again.
Whilst she was debating with herself on how to spend her time, she heard an eagle cry over head. She looked up to see just the one she had been suspecting. The same eagle she had just been so irritated with. She recognized his call as an invite to hunt, which made her unsure of what to think. She was dumbfounded. She had never seen an animal go from irritated, to inviting the enemy to hunt. Okay, so they weren't exactly enemies, but they certainly weren't friends. She was impressed, but she wouldn't admit it. Besides, now was the matter of deciding what to do. She certainly didn't want to forgive Bright Eyes that easily, but the hawk was hungry. And who knew, she might actual grow to like him.
That thought, that one, vague thought that drifted through her head for just a moment made her so angry at herself. She let out a sharp hissing sound, almost like a screech without the volume, from her anger. Luckily, she knew that Bright Eyes couldn't hear it from the distance. She stretched her wings, having it in mind to fly off and have nothing more to do with this incompetent bird. But then she considered his offer again. She probably quite silly, sitting crouched, wings outstretched, but without further movements. After a few seconds, she decided. Might as well. It'll at least give me something to do and, if nothing else, I will say he is intriguing.
And so, Alanjeh took to the skies. She used the warm updrafts to raise to his height, flapping every now and then. She flew in a large circle, gaining altitude. When she was almost as high as Bright Eyes, Alanjeh flew toward him. By the time she reached his side, she was roughly at the same height, flying at a casual distance from him. She said nothing, but kept her sharp eyes trained on the ground below, watching closely for prey.

Bright Eyes Bright Eyes was startled at the sight before him, mostly because he hadn’t really thought about what he would do aside from hunting had the hawk taken up his offer. So now he was at a loss for words. The Sharpie had flown off from her tree, gained altitude quickly with a few flaps and was soon silently flying along side him. He gave her a weary glance, then cast his eyes downward to focus on the dusty land below. Bright Eyes had always hoped to have a raptor companion to hunt with when he finally got free of the circus, be it a male or female, he had no real preference. The thought of hunting by himself, now that he knew it to be a boring task, was not too appealing. As if to help pass the time and perhaps weave a web of answers to the many questions that he had, Bright Eyes struck up a conversation in the only way he knew how. “You know, you’re not too bad after all, I guess I’m just a little defensive.” he looked over at the hawk with a slight grin. “After all, Darkscale and I had been living in a cage at the hands of the humans until around four hours ago. Before that Darkscale at least had a fair life in the wild” Bright Eyes looked back down at the ground again. “I don’t remember much of my life, the little bits that I do hurt me.” his voice had dropped some, not really in a sad tone, but in a much more thoughtful one. Why did the memories bother him? What was there that he was missing that hurt him so much? “This whole world is going to be one large puzzle...And I guess I would like to say I’m sorry for acting the way I did before, and would like you to help me, whenever we cross paths, in exploring this world.” The sun was still tracing its path across the sky; throwing an orange glow onto the horizon as the sky above them became a darker blue. The cool wind brushed over and under Bright Eyes’s body, calming him even more and bringing his defensive shields down for a moment. Now he no longer looked like an angry raptor about to go on a rampage, instead, he had the appearance of a young eagle that would grow to be a very wise one if survived in this world.
