It was a beautiful day on Mango Island. The waves softly crashed against the rocks jutting out from the ocean shelf that lead to the island. The seagulls were calling from overhead as they searched for food. Squinting her browns eyes as she looked up at the bright sky, Katie thought they looked rather serene, without a care in the world. The thylacine stopped on the rock she stood for a moment to observe the beautiful of the waters. She looked out across the ocean, then back in the direction she had come, leading back to land, and ahead toward Mango Island. She breathed in the cool breeze, her face scrunching a bit at the sharp, strong smell of salt. She actually liked the view the from the rock she was balanced on better than she knew she would from the island. But standing here all day was a bit silly, she thought. A large wave washed over the rock and her legs, nearly knocking her off of the stone. Better get moving, she thought. And with that, she continued hopping across the pathway toward the island.
It was only a few moments before Katie reached the island. She jumped from the last rock into the shallows. She tensed in disgust as the warm water touched her stomach, which she did not like wet. Once her paws hit the moist sand of the shore, she turned out looked out once again in Amanija's direction. The view from the rock; the feeling of being surrounded by the water, was better but this view was nice too. She knew she could easily stare out the scenery here, or the plant and animal life further inland, but it was sunny and warm, and, for now, she wanted to rest in the afternoon sun.
The marsupial turned back around and walked until the sand under her paws became dry. She could see where lush palm trees grew in the distance where the sand was shallow and soil could be found underneath. It certainly looked like a nice place to rest. She walked to the edge of the palm trees, then lay down on the sand. With her sandy colored fur, she was almost invisible, save for the darker stripes on her lower back and rear.
This is nice, Katie thought, closing her eyes and taking in a deep breath, then letting it out. I could lie here forever... Within a few minutes, she had drifted into a light sleep.

Lyrie stood on a sand bed in the ocean talking to a few dolphins that had surfaced for air. An hour had passed in conversation quite quickly as the Tyrannosaur learned more about the lands under the sea, places that he and other creatures not of the sea couldn’t reach. It was rather fascinating to the large dinosaur and so when the dolphins had to cut their tales short in order to get back to their families, Lyrie was understandably crushed. He bid the dolphins farewell, watching them disappear under the surface of the blue sea, then turned around and spotted something far off making its way to the sand from the rocks. Curiosity set in as the being laid down to rest not too far from shore. The great Tyrannosaur started walking quickly in the direction of the new arrival, hoping that they were just tired from some sort of sightseeing expedition, instead of being worn out from trying to escape an enemy. His footsteps thundered across the beach as he picked up speed. Birds scattered to allow the brute access to their part of the sandy shore, where the source of the dinosaur’s interest now lay sleeping. So as not to catch the tiny creature off guard, Lyrie walked around it, giving the odd animal a wide berth so that he could keep it in check, yet it could also tell he wasn’t hunting it.
After a few passes around his new found friend, the Tyrannosaur bent over to sniff the animal and wake it up. “Hello, hope I’m not bothering you, sorry if I am but I’m quite curious....” he started, now backing away from the creature so that it didn’t feel threatened by his proximity to it. “I have never seen an animal quite like yourself before, though I rarely bump into many small animals anyways, guess my kind just have a bad reputation for eating anything that is smaller than us.” Again the dinosaur came closer so that his eyes could focus on the little thing better. “I’m Lyrie, a wanderer. I like to travel a lot, guess that’s why I’m by myself, no one else can keep up” he quipped, motioning with his head toward the other lands beyond the Island.

Rajiv went out on another one of his long walks that day, just as he had every day for the past few years. He nibbled on a couple of fruits that had fallen on the ground once or twice, and after he was done eating, he kept on walking. Somehow, he found himself on one of Mango Island’s many beaches. He walked out about five paces from where the line of palm trees ended, and then sat down. He took in the sun, the sand, and the calming sound of the waves…then he was up again, and walking down the beach.
This would’ve seemed like a rather serene picture if it wasn’t for what was going on in the mongoose’s head. His mind was filled with egocentric thoughts, just like they were every day. Those papayas that had been on the ground weren’t just coincidence; they’d fallen for him. They all wanted to become his next snack, but alas! He could not eat them all. That beach wasn’t just beautiful; it was absolutely gorgeous because he was there. Without him, the waves would be still and refuse to make their natural, soothing music. The sun would not shine without him; it would hide behind the clouds and stay there forever.
The mongoose would’ve probably walked around the entire island thinking about himself if it weren’t for that Tyrannosaurus Rex that happened to be in his path.
What a huge creature! It was taller than the trees, with a large head and a mouth full of teeth that looked like it would skewer you just by glancing at it. Despite its comically small arms and its massive legs, the Tyrannosaurus was still terrifying. It was amazing that his feet hadn’t already squashed the island. Some would be thankful that he wasn’t going on a rampage right now, but Rajiv instead thought of countless methods of destruction the creature could inflict upon his precious isle. This beast was a potential disaster waiting to happen. He could knock down all the trees, kick sand up everywhere, and then where would Rajiv be? His precious tropical gem would be gone, reduced to a pile of mangled tree trunks and rocks. Every hair in Rajiv’s coat rose. His teeth were clenched.
If this Tyrannosaurus had been anywhere but Mango Island, Rajiv would’ve ignored him. He was not one to challenge such giants. But this was his home. He was not going to move off of Mango Island just because there was a dinosaur on it…unless, of course, getting it to go away would possibly injure Rajiv. His fur flattened, and he sat up, studying this problem with a worried face. His health was more important than his home, for without him, what would the world be, anyways? He was the perfect leader: strong, courageous, an excellent strategist. Mango Island was only as peaceful as it was because of—wait!
The Tyrannosaurus was introducing itself to somebody. Rajiv then saw the thylacine. He frowned, but his ears perked up so that he could hear what they were saying. The Tyrannosaurus babbled for a few seconds about his senses of hearing, feeling, and taste. It seemed docile enough. Rajiv relaxed, but only a little. This thing could still be lying. A younger Rajiv would’ve dismissed it as too dumb and brutish to think of lying, but the small experience he’d had with other species made it clear that anybody, despite how bulky and ugly they were, could be a calculating maniac.
He scurried back into the trees and found a place where he could stay hidden and watch the Tyrannosaurus at the same time. Both he and the thylacine would have to get off the island eventually, but the thylacine was easier to deal with. He just had to wait for them to talk for a few more minutes, and then, if the Tyrannosaurus had anything to reveal, he would reveal it.
Hopefully.

Katie was sleeping quite peacefully. It was still only a light sleep, allowing her to be vaguely aware of the world around her. She could still hear the sounds of other animals, the waves, the rustle of plant leaves, and all the other sounds of the island. They didn't really make a lot of sense to her in this state of sleep. She heard voices in the distance and, although she still couldn't even make sense of what they wear, they aroused her from her sleep slightly. Soft thuds stirred curiosity up inside of her, but she didn't open her eyes, still to asleep to make sense of anything. No, what woke her was not sound, but the smell of a strange being, along with the feeling that another presence was near by.
The thylacine lazily opened her eyes, wondering what it was that was so close. She gasped loudly and her brown eyes widened as she saw the large nose in front of her. Her eyes locked onto those of the reptile's and she pinned herself as low to the ground as she could, staring up fearfully. She held her breath, too shocked to make her lungs function. As she got over the shock of her startling awakening, she calmed down slightly. She relaxed a little and started breathing again. Still, this was one terrifying looking being. As it spoke, she begin to sense that it wasn't about to harm her and she further settled down. Perhaps she should not have calmed so quickly. It was wise to be prepared for anything. However, Katie was all too trusting of others.
When the lizard stop speaking, Katie hesitated a moment before replying. She took a deep breath and let it out, calming herself enough to speak. "I-it's okay," she said, seeming to have trouble making herself speak at first. "I was just a little startled is all."
Feeling vulnerable while lying down, Katie sat up. At least this way she could run if she needed to. She shook herself to rid her fur of the grains of sand, then looked back up at the dinosaur. "Not many have seen my kind. There are few of us here, and even fewer in the human world. In fact, my family and I were the only thylacines we know of in the human world. I've seen a few others of my kind around here, but only a few."
Should she dare say any more? She had not seen one of his kind before either, but would he be offended by that? Surely he wouldn't... After all, wasn't one entitle to say the same thing back if it applied? "I'm afraid I haven't seen one of your kind before either. I've seen large dinosaurs that look a little bit like you, but never one the same." She hesitated, again wondering if she should continue or not. She didn't give it much thought this time. "What is your kind called?"
At the mention of being a wanderer, Katie's eyes lit up and a smile crossed her snout. "I like to travel a lot myself. I've explored a lot of places here in Amanija, but there are still a lot I haven't seen yet." She had only just met this creature, and already she felt like it was her friend. That made sense, since they both liked to travel, right? Maybe she and Lyrie would become good friends.
Lyrie! That's right! The word "travel" had caught her attention and she hadn't even introduced herself yet! "Oh, uh, sorry. I'm Katie. I got too caught up with the topic of exploring when you said you liked to travel." She gave a single, slightly nervous laugh, as well as a nervous smile. Hopefully he wouldn't mind that she was a little late introducing herself. Katie was always worried about offending other animals.
As she talked with Lyrie, she hadn't even noticed the mongoose that was eaves dropping. She had been too shocked at first, and now too busy conversing with a fellow wanderer.

The day was calm and warm. Too calm. Something had to be changed about it! And a certain large Thylacine was just about to fix that.
Redbrush had been stalking about the island for several hours at this point. The animal had gotten quite good at leaping from rock to rock, only having slipped into the water once. He shivered at the thought- that hadn't been fun at all. He had since gotten over the strong sent of salt- not at all unpleasant unless it was in the form of water and up his nose- and the unshielded wind. The Tasmanian Tiger had grown to like this incomparably beautiful island, and had taken instant advantage of all he could. The small prey, the strong sun, the mild weather, and especially the lack of other animals of his size and up. Redbrush was now devoting his time to exploring his potential new territory.
Unfortunaly the problem was the air-born cretins. He snapped to no avail up at the irritating, caterwauling seagulls, something like a growl escaping his throat, sending them higher into the blue. With a shake of his muzzle, the marsupial went loping off.
The Thylacine was practically blending into his surroundings as he stalked the beach with his tan fur, walking the perimeter of the island. It was a while before he saw a rather large animal, larger then any animal he had ever before contemplated. He gazed at it in awe for what seemed like several minutes, shock running through his body in the form of a shiver. This is... An unbeatable enemy... The largest creature on the earth... It's so lucky to be that big! I wish I could be that animal! Redbrush thought with twisted admiration. This was the first creature since that young lion he had ever admired... Such a feeling! He had to so something! Maybe he could regain that sort of rivalry he used to have...
Then he spotted the small animal that he had afore mistook for a lump of sand. Hm? Could it be? It is!? A Thylacine! Redbrush hadn't seen one since he had left his family!
Now how to approach- moreover, what was he trying to accomplish? Suddenly an idea sprang into his head. He could fight this other Tasmanian Tiger, prove himself to the huge lizard-like creature, and get some fighting tips out of the reptile! Yes yes, great plan. Nothing better then getting battle tips from something like that.
Redbrush padded swiftly up to the two animals, taking on an almost fighting stance next to the other Thylacine, his tail lashing. "You, Thylacine. Do you fight?" He asked in a deep, intimidating voice, eyes glinting with anticipation.

The dinosaur tilted his head as he listened to what the other creature had to say, then Lyrie tossed his mighty head up and let out a laugh that made the rest of his body shake like an earthquake. “It’s alright, I get caught up sometimes in conversation and forget to introduce myself too. I’m part of a species called Tyrannosaurus Rex and there are very few of us big guys left, most of the dinosaurs I’ve run into are rather small, a few Velociraptors and even a Pachycephalosaurus or two. Met a Brachiosaurus that was allergic to grass once, she was the funniest Brachiosaur I’ve ever run across.” he said chuckling, remembering the old dinosaur and her family. She had been one of those few who followed Lyrie around for a awhile before finding a place to settle down during a trek of his. Now he only saw them occasionally when he passed through the area, which had been a couple of years ago; quite overdue for a visit so it would seem. The sand shifted under Lyrie’s feet suddenly, making him sink down an inch, which felt slightly weird in that Lyrie had never really just stood in one spot long enough for the earth to try and keep him there. He looked down at the two neat holes his feet were creating and then took a moment to watch said sand roll over the tops of his feet because of the wind. Even though his feet were well above the sand and wouldn’t be covered soon or easily, the Tyrannosaur still picked them out of the holes and planted them on firm ground again.
“So, just enjoy moving around and seeing new things I guess? I’m pretty much the same way, though I have always felt that I need to keep moving or I’ll miss something, and end up missing more by leaving in some cases...Oh well.” Lyrie shrugged as he looked up from where Katie was sitting and took notice of something small moving in the brush, but didn’t make an immediate attempt to investigate because another of Katie’s species had come trotting up to the pair of them with an air of wanting to start a fight. This was soon verified when he asked Katie if she could fight, sending a message to Lyrie who took a step back with a deep sigh; he just knew that the day couldn’t keep being a good one. Even though the other Thylacine didn’t appear to be threatening Lyrie, the giant lizard continued to take a few steps back so that it was obvious he wasn’t going to get involved in the affairs of smaller creatures, unless asked.

Rajiv had watched the entire scene in silence, doing his best to stay still. It was difficult; his tail wanted to flick around and express what he was feeling. He wanted these creatures out. They were just wanderers, if what he was hearing was correct. Wanderers were not appreciated around Rajiv. He just thought that the idea of being without a permanent home was just disgusting. Every animal needed a place to operate from, and he liked that place to be one spot, not several. Of course, being Rajiv, he couldn’t just leave the ways of others alone; he had to speak up about them.
Oh, great. Another thylacine had just arrived, and now he was challenging the first to a fight. Rajiv’s tail did start twitching. The Tyrannosaurus was backing away. What? Was he afraid of the thylacine? Well, at least that was one problem out of the way. The only one who really seemed potentially dangerous was this new thylacine. The other thylacine, “Katie” as she called herself, didn’t really seem to want a fight. “Lyrie”, the dinosaur, was apparently what Rajiv would call “a huge wimp”. He didn’t seem to want to fight at all. Now what kind of dinosaur didn’t want to fight?
But this worked perfectly for Rajiv. He looked at both of the thylacines, and then at the Tyrannosaurus. If he told them to go away, he knew Katie and Lyrie would probably do it. He imagined the two of them bawling and begging for mercy before finally running and getting off of the island. It made Rajiv smile. Now, the male thylacine, he would probably challenge the mongoose. “Who are you to tell me to go away?” and other things like that. Well, Rajiv was certain he could reduce him to the imagined state of the other two. What would a marsupial know of war, anyways?
The mongoose bared his teeth and held up a paw in what he felt was a menacing manner. Then he rushed out of the bushes. He stopped right in the middle of the three animals, glaring at all of them. He opened his mouth, and out came a torrent of angry words.
“Get off! Off! All of you!” he shouted, loud as a mongoose could. “Leave the island alone! Leave my precious pearl alone! You—!” He continued to shout, but it was mostly a steady repetition of swear words designed to make sure that the three animals got his point. He went on shouting in their faces for a minute or so, sitting on his hind legs while swinging his forelegs around.
Eventually he ran out of breath and was forced to pant in front of these strangers. While he was mustering up the breath for another round of swearing, he was content to sit and scowl at them. Anything to make sure that they would go away.

((xD Oh my. This is turning into a very interesting thread.))
As the other thylacine began moving toward then, Katie caught sight of him in her peripheral vision. Suddenly, she had completely forgotten about Lyrie. She stared at the approaches, her face showing a spark of interest. It was to be expected. After all, how often did you see a thylacine, even in Amanija? The marsupial sniffed the air without appearing obvious. It was a thylacine, and a male at that. Questions flooded her head. She wanted to know everything about this creature. Did he have a family? Did he come here with any other thylacines? What if he ended up being her future mate? Katie wasn't one that went searching for love, but she was a female, and this was a male and thylacines were very hard to find. Her mind couldn't help but wonder.
Katie snapped back to reality when the thylacine's posture took that of one looking for a fight. He tensed, his eyes looked darker, and his voice became deep and forceful. And then he challenged her to a fight. The female quickly flattened her ears to her skull and became low to the ground, her eyes wide as she looked up to him. She held her tail low and took the position of one that was submitting to the authority of another. "N-no, I prefer not to...." She said weakly before quickly adding, "not that I can't defend myself...." If she flat out said no, he might be tempted to think that he could easily attack and defeat her. That probably wasn't too far from the truth, but maybe if he thought she wouldn't be such an easy target, that she wasn't totally defenseless, he might back off. After all, by crouching her like this, she was submitting to him and there would be no reason for him to attack, right?
As Katie stared up at him, her thoughts were flooded with very different feelings. Who is he? She thought. He's so scary... Maybe not... 'scary' exactly, but he's so forceful... What reason would he have for wanting to fight anyway? This is open territory. And I've never so much as seen him before. Fearing that he would try and fight her anyway, she began glancing around her, looking for an escape route. Seeing that Lyrie had stepped back, she looked up at him with wide brown eyes, as if silently asking for help. But she had just met him. What if he wouldn't help her? She kept searching for the best direction to run in if this male thylacine lunged at her. It was then that her eyes came to rest on the mongoose that was running out of it's hiding place toward them. Is HE going to attack now?! She wondered. The mongoose looked absolutely furious.
She watched as the little creature came to a stop in the middle of the three. Her already wide eyes then widened more in not fear, but surprise as the animal began shouting frantically and letting out a long string of swears. He seemed to go on forever, but that might just have been because Katie's mind was swirling with confusion and discomfort. When at last he stopped for a breath, he gave them all a nasty look. Katie froze and it was now that she realized she had been holding her breath for a while. Her sides began heaving as she fought to catch her breath as well, but her panting was fairly silent. She from the furious, but less threatening looking little animal, to the friendly but giant animal, and to the frightening animal of her own kind, and back to the first. She said nothing to any of them, for her mind seemed not to be processing. When it started to work again, she told herself it was due to the lack of oxygen, but she knew that probably was only a small fraction of the problem. Still, she said nothing and waited for one of the others to respond.

Redbrush was quite surprised to find that the large reptilian creature had stepped back. He couldn't quite read the lizard's face. Did he want them to fight to see which was the better of the two? This was his chance! But his dream was suddenly shattered.
The Thylacine at once heaved a sigh, starting to back up a bit as he came to an awkward realization. This Thylacine was female. Redbrush wrinkled his nose, swiping a forepaw over his muzzle. The salt in his nose from when he fell into the ocean was still blocking his sense of smell. He couldn't smell out the other of his species' gender and had made a fatal mistake, those stupid females hardly ever fought. In a sheepish attempt to save his pride he muttered a small, "Whatever- stupid salt, can't smell a thing."
Although Redbrush was distracted by this bizarre little creature running up. It was almost laughable, when Redbrush interpreted what he was saying- (as the little animal was talking rather fast)- and in fact the marsupial let out a huge guffaw once the mongoose ran out of breath. The curses and force of the weasel had taken him by surprise, that was for sure, but this- oh this was just too good.
After he himself had run out of breath from the laughter that had turned into a drawn-out almost higher-pitched chuckle, he padded calmly up to the mongoose. "Ha ha ha, you think you own this island? Oh my, this is good. You are an entertaining little rat." Redbrush taunted, eyes glinting in amusement. He batted the little animal several times with his forepaws. Just like a bully. "Who says it can't be my island?" The Thylacine challenged, voice growing cold. He suddenly gave a real effort to attack the mongoose, a crushing blow aimed towards it's head.

The scene that was playing out in front of the dinosaur was part comical, part idiocy, and part irritating banter. In all his travels, Lyrie had never run into a situation where he was talking to one animal and another came up to pick a fight in front of him, let alone two. So now he was in unfamiliar territory, which might result in him having a good snack or two before the sun moved much in the sky.
Lyrie had let the three animals talk as long as they wanted before getting in a few words of his own, especially when the male Thylacine made a move to take on the tiny Mongoose. The Tyrannosaur put one foot between the two creatures, being sure to move the Mongoose over enough for the foot to rest in the space provided, not that the Mongoose had to stay on the one side of course, he could easily climb over it if he wanted. He then lowered his head so that his nose at least was even with the heads of both Thylacines, the Mongoose didn’t count because Lyrie’s head was just too big to have his nose come even with the little creature.
“Enough of that, what kind of warrior takes on another that is smaller than he without warning?” he stated simply. He then turned his head enough so that he could speak to the Mongoose now. “And as for you, how can you lay claim to a free island? No one owns it, except for those who have died here calling it their home.”
Lyrie raised his head up so that it towered over the three beings below him and moved his foot back a bit to allow the two animals to continue their strife, if they so desired. A nice day on the beach had quickly turned into a battle of words and actions over a stretch of sand and some trees, which Lyrie did have to admit was quite nice to look at, but not worth losing your life over when you could have the whole world as your home; you just had to see it as such, even though you could never put a sign up saying it was yours, it would always be so in your heart.
That was the case with Lyrie, who had been almost everywhere in his life, and could still be amazed with the new lands he stumbled upon in his travels. Everywhere was his home, and when his time came, he wanted to go as he was doing what he loved; traveling the world.
“So, are we all going to fight to the death, which I’m sure I would win...Or are we going to find out who has the fleas biting their ass and rectify the situation?” Lyrie eyed each of the animals in turn as he waited for one to make their move.
