"Woah, stop right there. I never said I wanted a mate, particularly, you. I was just talking about what I wanted. I don't think you're even fit to be my mate. What how old are you, anyways? Five? Come on you're too old to be having pups, or at least with someone like me. Now I wasn't implying that at all." He said with a surprised, than disgusted look. She could never fill that kind of spot, too old, too old not even the right type of wolf.

Tyen gave a slight chuckle, "You said you wanted to be second in command, you wanted to be alpha. I don't know about your kind, but alpha male and female are usually mates in grey wolf packs." she paused and sighed, of course finding an alpha wouldn't be this easy. She would be lucky if she found one within a week, "Besides, do you actually think you could lead a pack? You're way too young, too inexperienced." She started to pace back and forth, a habit she picked up from her captive days. She would pass time in her cramped cage by watching every footstep she took, and she often did this when agitated or annoyed.

"Too inexperienced?" He laughed, "Look at yourself, I bet you've never lead a pack in your life, yet you presume that you can be leader. If I'm inexperienced you're really inexperienced. Anyways, what I meant by second in command would be like a partner, but not of the mate kind, just someone who would take over at times, or when you died, just someone who could make orders and have them obeyed." He added smirking.

Tyen shook her head, "No, I have never lead a pack, but I have been through a lot. You have no right to assume I am inexperienced, I could rip your throat out here and now, but I will not. I bet I am three times your age, I bet I have been through three times as much." she stopped pacing, "Hmm, I suppose, for now, you may call yourself second in command. But you must accept any and all challenges to your position, I wish to have the strongest mate I can find." she turned and faced the mountain that was the highlight of the area, "Now, I want to scout that mountain for a good cave, you may follow if you wish."

"Again, I don't want to be your mate. I can be third in command, if a mate comes along for you, and yes I already was going to accept any challenges to my position." He said rolling his eyes at her. Of course he would accept and defeat any challenges to his position, what did she think he was? A new born pup? No, he was much better than that. Very much so. "I'll stay here and hunt for myself." He added as she looked around.

Tyen sighed, "Yes, yes,I know you don't want to be my mate. I think we've been over this." she said before starting up the mountain. There wasn't very much worth noting on her expedition. Rocks, snow, ice, no caves that were very good, until she reached the top half. It was a huge cave, big enough to comfortably fit five wolfs. For most of the day the sun shone right into the cave, creating a small pool of fresh water that trickled down the side of the mountain. The sun reflected off the ice walls and made the cave look like it was glowing. Tyen sniffed around before deciding, "Yup, this will do nicely for my new home."

Tilren smirked as she left and looked around for more meat. At once he saw it. A huge weasel. It almost blended perfectly with the snow, but he still saw it. He at once crouched into a hunt position and started to slowly walk towards it. The scent it left was ravishing it almost made him want to lose guard and just run after it. A small smile came upon his lips, but as he watched, it disappeared, as the weasel started to move, but not just move, run. He had lost, it had heard him. Tilren ran after it, almost out-running it already. The smile reappeared as he pounced on it, paralyzing it's tiny body beneath his and sinking his teeth into it. The taste of it's blood after such a fast was divine, he hurriedly ate it. He ate all, but the skeleton. His smirk formed into a delighted smile as his stomach was full once more.

Once Tyen bored of admiring her new home, she set out to hunt for some more food. She realized game was plentiful around here, it was just difficult to spot in the snow and ice. She stalked down the side of the mountain, looking for signs of prey. She saw a small movement and froze, it was a white bird. She would have to be quick if she were to catch it before it flew away. She lowered herself to the ground and slowly inched closer behind her expecting prey. She was about four feet away when she lunged for it. Just as she expected the bird shot up into the air and into her jaws, she had aimed right above the bird. Her plan had worked perfectly, except for the fact that she was on a mountain. She was not used to hunting in this land and had not noticed where the bird was sitting, right on the edge of a small cliff. She flew right over the edge and came tumbling down the side of the mountain. On a flatter part of the mountain she managed to slow herself down and stop her fall. The dead bird fell from her jaws as she layed there, tired, dizzy, and confused, but most of all, angry. How could she let herself be so stupid! Hunting on the side of a mountain, of course you don't pounce downward! As far as Tyen knew, no one had seen her fall. Surely if she saw her alpha tumbling down a mountain she would lose respect for them. She stood up wobbly and shook the snow from her coat and looked down. There lay her prey, the small little creature that had caused this whole mess. She sighed, she was no longer hungry, she was too shaken up and dizzy. She decided to take the kill back to her ice den to save for later.

Tilren started standing back up from sitting at his meal and looked around searching for the she-wolf. A smirk crept on his lips as he saw the scene around her. Fallen snow and ice, her on the ground just getting up, and a small, dead bird in her mouth. She fell off the mountain hunting. A laugh erupted from him before he could stop it. He quickly silenced himself and distributed this information for later. He quickly got up and looked around. Tilren started up the mountain, still smirking. He was looking for a cave to rest in or just a cave that was bigger than most. He spotted Tyen walking into one and he followed inside, looking around. "Thank you for finding this nice place for me to stay. I'm glad we made that agreement earlier, very glad. All this for a little rabbit. How nice." He said to her back smirking. He didn't know if she would stay true to her word, but it was worth a try.

Now here was a creature that one would not expect to see in an icy cold area such as this. A four foot long, sea green and orange winged, butterfly. Black tiger stripes covered the wings of the creature, while the tiny iridescent scales of the wings reflected back all the sunlight, shimmering brightly. The soft, brownish "fur" on the tiny insect's body lazily blew in the breeze, while orange compact eyes took in the creatures ahead. Canines? Wolves.
Without the fear that one so small should have, the butterfly drifted toward the two, landing on the sparkling snow in front of the smaller one. Sylvester, as the insect was called, slowly flapped his wings a few times, ridding himself of the tiny ice crystals that clung to his body. He then turned his attention back to the wolf. "Are you two canines the leader of this herd?" he asked boldly. His voice was surprisingly low for a butterfly.
Sylvester was proof that you shouldn't go by stereotypes. His name, his voice, and his arrogant personality went against everything that bigger animals usually believed to be the typical of a butterfly.

Tyen turned around and narrowed her eyes, "Yes, what a nice cave it is indeed. I happened to stumble upon it while exploring my land, and, you know what they say, first come, first serve. Besides, I am the highest ranking member of this pack, do I not deserve the best?" she asked. Her head was still a bit jumbled up, but it was settling.
Just then a butterfly landed in the entrance to her cave, Tyen had never seen anything like it. Its voice was a stark contrast to its appearance. "Why, yes, I am the leader of this herd. Who wants to know?" she said slightly shaken.

Sylvester turned slightly so that he was facing the wolf that had spoken. He took in her appearance for a brief moment, trying to decide if she was "worthy" of his talents. She looked okay. She looked pretty tough. Intelligence wasn't much of a matter for the buisness he was here on.
"Allow me to introduce myself," he said with a quick flap of his wings, a butterfly's way of bowing. "I am Sylvester, and I am here to ask you to consider my offer." He paused slightly for a dramatic affect before continuing. "You see, I am quite small, and there for cannot offer much in the way of strength, speed, or anything of the sort. I can, however, offer my intelligence and good planning." He paused slighty again, hating admitting his size and lack of strength. "I am here to offer to be your personal adviser."
Most other animals would have simply said, "I would like to join as your adviser," but Sylvester was not that way. He didn't want it to sound like he was getting the better deal. No, it had to sound like these wolves would be getting the best out of the offer.
"I have experience planning out battles, if they should take place, directing hunting or foraging parties, and managing many other things. I ask for nothing in return but to be protected from others, of course."

Tyen was actually considering his offer, she was still thinking about her last hunting expedition. But a butterfly? She wasn't so sure about that. "I am called Tyen, and I have much experience in the art of battle." she said. It was true, she was raised to be a fighting dog, but on the other hand, she didn't know much about planing things out. "Besides, I already have a deputy, if that is what you are after." she said pointing her head toward Tilren, "But I am always willing to allow animals to join my pack, so long as they prove their usefulness." She didn't particlarly want a butterfly as part of her herd, but it wasn't like she had many other choices. She needed all the animals she could get. She wasn't about to admit it, but the butterfly souned like he could be a big help, planing strategies and all.

"Tyen.... A strong name," he said, staring up at her with his large, compound eyes. "I did not ask for deputy. I simply offer to be your adviser. Do not think that just because I am rather small that I have no use," Sylvester continued. Normally, he didn't talk near this formal, but he could be charming when he wanted to. It appeared that charm would not win alone against this wolf.
"Lady Tyen, there really is nothing for you to lose. Perhaps you could take up my offer and, if I prove not to be of any use to you, you can banish me from your land." Maybe that would do it. Maybe she would give him a chance and then see just how great this little strategist was..... Although he was simply trying to win her own, it was pretty true that she really didn't have anything to lose. It wasn't as if he were a large wolf that could sneak up on her while she slept and assassinate her.
((lol I love how they both act like they don't need the other but they both are interested XD Two very stubborn animals...))

The butterfly, what was his name? Sylvester. Sylvester was right, she had noting to lose, only things to gain. But then again, a butterfly leading a hunting expedition? Butterflies don't hunt! "Hmmm, I suppose I can let you join my pack, since it seems you have no where else to turn." She wasn't sure how this was going to turn out in the end, but right now it seemed like the right choice. Hey, she had to start practicing strategy sooner or later.
((Tee hee. They're two animals who are very different, but are still very similar.))
