Name: Guardian Zarif
Age Group: Elder (When he died. Couple thousand years old now.)
Gender: Male
Clan: Neutral
Herd: The first herd to ever exist
Mate: Never had one
Friends: N/A
Family: N/A
Species: King cobra
Physical Description: Zarif was a beautiful, shiny, black king cobra. His stomach was a pale, milky yellow and was complimented by dark bands near his throat. He grew to be about 13 feet long, and was a deadly predator with his sharp, venomous fangs. He was sleek and slender, but strong. His eyes were the typical pale yellow with a black pupil, and gave a feel that he was very intelligent. His cobra hood was slightly larger than average and had a bright yellow circle on the back..
History: Zarif was one of the first to discover the land of Amanija. He, along with a few other animals sought peace and a safe haven from the rest of the world, where humans destroyed forests and other animal homes. When he first came to Amanija, two hundred years ago, no other living creatures were in the land, except for plants, of course. He and the rest of the small herd lived in the land and enjoyed it. The carnivores had to do without meat, as there were no other animals other than the ones in their herd. Over time, they found that the fruits and vegetation was tasty and healthy. The plants that grew in this strange new land were unlike any other. Many familiar plants were here as well.
At first, the herd used the whole land as it's territory, due to the fact that they were all used to different climates. They slowly became used to it, and were able to live in one area together. It was later discovered, when the first generation had all died and past into the afterlife, that, though they could not control the weather, they could use their very being to make all animals comfortable with any climate, so long as they were within Amanija borders.
Zarif enjoyed every moment in Amanija, and lived life fully. The only unsatisfying part was when rogues attacked the herd. The rogues consisted mainly of those already in the herd, as there was only one at the time. Some of the rogues were of this first generation, whilst some were new comers to the land, and some offspring of the first generation. In a bloody battle, the rogues were defeated and the land was peaceful once more.
As more and more animals lived in the land, some members of the herds wanted different rules to be made, and so, they created their own clans. Surprisingly, the five clans never got into a huge battle though there were occasional small fights. All of that has been resolved now, and the clans normally get along well.
As for his life before this time, the snake lived with his fellow herd members. He was born into a large family of king cobras living together, before there was such a thing as a herd. One day, he became friends with a rat that he had almost eaten as a meal. He wanted the rat to come back to his home, but the creature told him that probably wouldn't be a good idea. The rat was right. Zarif nodded and went home after telling the rodent that they could meet again at the same place tomorrow. He told his family about the rat, and they were outraged. They told him he should not associate with food. He became angry, and ignored them, sneaking off to see the rat whenever possible.
Eventually, his family found him with the animal, and tried to catch the rat. Zarif protected his small friend, but the other snake got a hold of the rat and killed it. They didn't eat it, as they only killed him to make Zarif understand. The young king cobra took the blow hard. After morning alone for quite some time, he left and decided to create a herd. One that was not all snakes, but also other animals. He wasn't the only one with this wish.
Zarif found others who shared his idea, and together they formed the first herd where any animal could live with any other animal without fear of being attacked or eaten.
Personality: Zarif plays tough. He pretends to be fierce and unafraid. Underneath that shell is a soft interior. He is kind, helpful, and a good friend. As for the unafraid part, it is mostly true. His only, yet great fear was that those he cared about would be hurt, or the herd would split up until only single animals. Now, as he takes his role as Guardian, his only fear is for the land of Amanija. He wishes for no harm to come to it or any animal living in it. He does his best to protect it, and frequently speaks to those he believes have potential in dreams. He contacts the living more often than most Guardians, and his words are soft and reassuring, though sometimes coated in stubbornness. He is pretty direct when telling of a fault or anything else.

A black mass slowly crept up to the unsuspecting jaguar. Shyeza exhaled slowly, trying to keep her excitement down. The anticipation to attack nearly got the best of her, but she continued on. She stepped a little too quick, however, causing a pebble to clink very quietly against another one. She quickly glanced down, then back up at her target.
Maybe she didn't hear it..... Shyeza thought. She held still for a moment and waited for a sign. The other jaguar didn't appear to have heard the pebble. Maybe she still had a chance.
Shyeza took another step with slowness that even a snail would sigh at. As her target still didn't run and was looking the other way, she calmed a bit and took a few more steps. Finally, she was close enough. She slowly took a breath, drawing in the scent of the other cat. As her eyes locked onto the target, she sprang forward with a growl, her paws outstretched to grab a hold of the other cat.
The jaguar was ready. The queen suddenly flipped over on her back and kicked as Shyeza was about to land on top of her, sending the black cat flying.
Once Shyeza got up, she shook her head and looked at the jaguar in amazement. "How did you.....?" she asked, surprised. The jaguar gave a twitch of the whiskers, a cat's way of smiling, and replied, "Did you honestly think I never heard you? Shyeza, you really must learn to be quiet. And I could smell your excitement. Very foolish mistakes."
Shyeza pulled her ears back slowly. "But I-" She cut off, realizing how stupid her argument sounded. Instead she shot off another excuse which was probably even more idiotic. "Well it was only playing! I would do better if this were the real thing!"
