Silverveil was perched on a branch. She was a snowy owl, yes, but for some reason she liked the warmer climates. She clenched the branch tighter with her talons. She swiveled her head around, before flipping it back and rotating it. She was still a little surprised that her tail feathers were longer then usual, no matter how many times she looked at them. Then she righted her head and looked down at her chest. The full moon shined along with the bright, sparkling stars. Her silvery feathers gleamed in the moons light. She blinked in thier light, before looking around again. She felt a change in the air. The normaly still air changed to a slight breeze, bringing the smell of fresh fruit and leaves. She sighed, and breathed it in.

Sand flew from the beach, sailing a good three feet behind the fox. The red creature peered up every few moments, one ear straight up, the other down against the skull. Up to the bends of the forelegs were brown, velvety fur, the chest and stomach white as snow. The tip of the tail was chestnut brown, said tail wriggling in unison with her nose. The fox was digging up some prey she had buried--a muskrat. Though it was the middle of the night, she was starving. Oh, yay, there it was. She lifted the corpse out of the hole in the sand, circled around the little ditch, and lay down in it, tearing at the meat. Hanabira--Flower Petal, being the meaning. However, she seemed anything but a flower petal.

The scent in the air changed, carrying the scent of fresh blood. She swiveled her head and saw a fox. Her next meal...? No....She didn't like fox. She spread her wings and took off, gliding silently and landing on a branch as close to the fox as she could, so she could look at it. It seemed to be very hungry, and it was a female. The fox was ripping at what looked like a muskrat. Very tasty, but dry. Usually the fur was coarse and prickly. She looked down on the fox, her glimmering silver feathers shining in full veiw. "Hi." She hooted.

Hanabira looked up hastily, the whole muskrat hanging out of her mouth. She chewed once, and allowed the food to fall back to the sand. She hopped up, gulped down the meat still in her jaws, and bounded forword untill directly beneath. "Yo," the red fox greeted, plopping her butt down in the sand. "How it be?" Just like the fox to never make sense.

Silverveil chuckled. "You're friendly for a fox. Most want to eat me. Not much meat here, I say." Then she stared at the fox with her hard amber gaze. The thing just seemed to be hungry. But seeming is not enough. Silverveil twisted her head all over to check to see if there wasn't an ambush. Then she heard a rustle. A forest rat was scuttling to the forest. Quick as lightning, she swopped down and killed it, carrying her prize in her talons. She tore at the meat, before jerking her head and swallowing the last bit. She smiled, the way birds did. "Forest rat. Always a bit dry, but very tasty and soft fur as well." She said, more to herself, really.
