"Come on brother, you're being slow," Eralyn called over her shoulder as she charged though the forest. She was excited and couldn't contain her energy. "You know I can't run as fast as you can sister," Araken called from behind. Eralyn laughed, and slowed. "Thank you sister," Araken said as he pulled up beside her, running with his head parallel to her shoulder.
Araken did this as a sign of respect; even though he could be the alpha in the relationship as he was stronger and larger, he had willingly given his dominance to his sister. He had never felt the need to be alpha, but his sister had. Araken knew this, so he allowed his sister to be alpha and supported her when others opposed her. With this transfer of power, Araken had to be submissive to his sister. Thankfully, he was second in command right now, so Eralyn was the only animal that he had to submit to.
The two had traveled far in search of this place. His sister had said that she felt there was a perfect place for them, one that was away from their parents, one where they could share power. Araken had gone along with it. At least he was away from his mother. Somehow, Eralyn had been correct. They had found this place, one they called Frosted Forest. Once Eralyn had asserted her dominance, they could open up this land to other animals that wanted to join. Of course, there would be restrictions on these animals. Neither Eralyn or Araken had patience for the weak.
They both also craved power. Eralyn craved the alpha leader power. Araken knew this, and he would always support her. Araken preferred the power of fear. He attacked ruthlessly, fighting only for the kill. He wanted alpha fighter, and Eralyn would support him in this respect. The power these two beasts held when together was immense. The only way to take either down was to remove the other. This was extremely difficult, because not only did the twins keep together, they surrounded themselves with only the most trusted beasts they could find.
The twins ran on for sometime like this. Eventually, when Eralyn had decided that she had gone far enough, she slowed, causing Araken to slow with her. He kept his head at her shoulder at all times. He was the better fighter, but Eralyn could still inflict wounds. The female snow leopard let out a cry, as her species is incapable of roaring. "I claim this land as my own. My brother and I will share this land together. Frosted Forest is open to all other animals, but I shall lead and my brother shall help me."
She then turned to Araken. Araken instantly lowered his eyes and submitted. "Oh brother, you don't have to submit to me. If you are not alpha, then we are equals," Eralyn said, nudging her brother in the shoulder. Araken licked his sister's head then got up. He pounced her playfully, then charged off hoping a game of chase would ensue. It did of course, as Eralyn was known to never resist a challenge. Araken knew that his sister would catch him, but it was whether she could take him down or not that made this game fun.
