The sun beat down on the tiny, unmoving figure. The isolated beach was a heavenly sight; the rays of the orange orb bleached the sand and lining the edge of the beach was lush vegetation. It would've been the perfect place to live if she could have hung on longer.
Her eyes remained shut but at least she was still coherent and listened to the lull of the waves gently caressing the soft sand. The rise and fall of her tiny little stomach in rhythm with her breathing was the only give away that she was still alive. Skye was in the worse shape she had ever been in. Not even a year old the small cat still clung to life although dehydrated and no food in her stomach, it wasn’t looking as though she could last much longer. At least I made it to such a lovely place to die.. Skye thought to herself. Still her optimistic nature shone through even when facing death.

With the sun high in the sky and its beams of light heating up anything it touched, the tiger thought it was a perfect time for a swim. The water felt cool against his fur and skin and he was almost instantly relaxed. It had been an interesting couple of days in this new place, stumbling on this new world, so unexplored to him that it made him energized everytime he woke up. Exploring was one of his most favorite things to do, and once he spotted the island, every part in his body wanted to explore it. As his powerful paws pushed back against the water, they grazed something underneath. It was something that felt slimy and he instantly knew what it was.
Zeal smiled a toothy smile as he dipped his head into the water and his eyes caught movement. A sudden flash of light reflecting off the fish scales underneath caused his head to shoot back above the surface and to shake a few times. "Nothing like being blinded before the hunt." Zeal thought and rolled his eyes. He shot down below the surface, his legs propelling him downward before his jaws opened up and his teeth latched around the mid body of a fish. He clamped shut and that was the end of the hunt for him. It was just a snack to quell his predator hunger. He had heard around that predators were supposed to eat berries and not rely solely on meat, but Zeal was having a tough time with adjusting to such an unusual diet.
As the tiger hit the surface, water dripping off his head, he noticed how close he was to the island and set out immediately to it. As he got out of the ocean and onto the beach, something caught his eye. He almost didn't detect it if it weren't for his keen eyes. As he got closer he saw that it was a cat...a small cat. Zeal looked around for any other signs of life but found none. He turned back and his eyes locked on the small body. It was so young, its mother couldn't be too far away. Zeal slowly ambled over to the body and dropped the fish beside it. Without saying a word he lifted his nose up into the air and took in all the smells around him. Nothing, nothing at all smelled like this tiny cat in front of him.
He looked back down to the cat and sighed. "You hungry? All I have right now is that fish. If you are, go ahead and eat it but afterwords I must ask you a few things little one." Zeal told the cat and looked around once more. There was still no signs of its mother. "You'd think it'd freak out at the sight of me and come running to defend its young" Zeal just shook his head and continued to keep an eye out for movement.

Skye focused on the sounds of the waves rather than the heat from the sun beating down on her small body. She pictured the waves as they melded into a blue blur and swirled about her head, slowly becoming less coherent. A voice broke the sounds of the waves and she recoiled slightly from its volume. She wasn't expecting to hear anything than the gentle rhythm of the waves and was beginning to think she imagined it. Slowly she pieced together what the voice had said and she was sure it mentioned the word fish. Mustering all the strength she had left, she lifted an eyelid, the rays momentarily blinding her though a large figure blocked some of the light. Lifting her head slightly and opening her other eye, Skye first noticed the grand figure of the tiger standing before her. Skye definitely wasn't expecting to see a tiger, nor one as large as this, and was instantly frightened. If he wanted to hurt you, why would he offer you fish? Skye thought to herself. It was as if the thought itself reminded her of the fish this stranger spoke of and she carefully looked down to see the scaly form of the fish lying next to her.
Her nose twitched as she took in the delightful aroma of the dead fish. She forgot all about the tiger and as fast as she could manage, Skye was flipped on her stomach and was pawing at the fish gently, her head cocked to the side. Lifting off the ground using her hind legs, Skye stuck her head into the side of the fish and began to eat. The more she ate the less she tasted, wolfing the meal down as if it could disappear at any moment. Once she had eaten most of the meal, her senses became more in tune with her surroundings and she remembered the tiger standing before her. Her smoky blue eyes looked up from under her small lashes at the large figure, a meek grin on her little face. ”Sorry, I was really hungry, I usually have better manners then that,” she mumbled, her voice slightly rough and barely audible. Skye hadn’t spoken to anyone in a couple of weeks and her voice sounded strange and unfamiliar to her.
Skye sat down, ears flattened and bowed her head in shame at her rudeness, ”Thank you very much for the fish, I’d have never been able to catch one myself,” she said, her voice gaining in confidence. Remembering more clearly what the tiger had said to her, she remembered him wanting to ask her a few questions, ”What did you want to ask me?” Skye inquired. She couldn’t think what this grand tiger would want to ask her, or why he bothered to give her his fish. She felt her life was in debt to him and decided that she would try and thank him for his kind gesture.
