As Shiba stood up, Tybalt cast a glance at Kenneth, as if wondering if this were a good idea. What if she was leading him into a trap? Nah! That could never happen! She's much too pretty for that. Besides, I could fight my way out EASY, the young tiger thought, starting to follow her. As he walked, he took in his surroundings curiously. What a strange place this was... It was... pleasant, in an odd sort of way, but also very eerie. That brought something to Tybalt's mind.
"Uh, you know, you don't have to worry about any monsters in this swamp or anything," he said, speeding up to a jog until he was right beside Shiba, then slowing back to a walk. "Because if any do come out, I'll protect you," Tybalt finished, pausing for a moment to stand tall and puff his fur out, trying to look big and strong. He held the pose for a brief moment, then caught up to the white tiger again. He gave her a lop-sided grin, only to frown a second later as a loud squishing sound rang through the air. Tybalt turned his amber-flecked eyes to the ground to see his paw stuck in a soft spot of mud.
Having already forgot about Kenneth again, Tybalt's focus was on looking good in front of Shiba. He looked up at her, eyes wide from embarrassment, his ears flattened. Looking back at his leg, he tried to pull his paw out of the mud, but to no avail. The striped cat licked his lips nervously. He tried again, but he still could not break free. Looking back up at the female, he seemed to shrink before her. Here was a beautiful, kind tiger going to let him stay with her for the night, and here he was, stuck in the mud and looking like an idiot.
((I'm sorry about the wait. I was waiting for Shades to reply, then I totally forgot about this thread! I knew I needed to post in a thread, but I didn't remember which thread.))

Sprinting with ease through the dense undergrowth, the blurry figure barely made a sound. His strong pads left light indents in the squishy ground as he focused on the smell ahead. Faster, push yourself. What are you, weak? his thoughts driving him to push his muscles harder and faster than before, dodging the trees with perfected grace. It would be a beautiful sight if his battered body wasn't riddled with scars and the gleam in his eyes revealing the bloodlust within. It's close. Relishing in the musky smell of the deer a few yards away hidden by trees. Before his nose could register the distinct odor change in the air, his ears pricked to the far away sound of conversation.
Redlock slowed his pace and was on immediate alert, diverting from the hunt and following the sounds of the voices. Now now, caution. Don't attract attention to yourself his mind racing faster now then his body as he focused more on stealth than speed. Narrowing the distance between the unknown figures, his wild eyes blazed with the wolf within him; fierce and determined.
"Uh, you know, you don't have to worry about any monsters in this swamp or anything," ... "Because if any do come out, I'll protect you,"
Redlock let out a smirk and stalked closer toward the pair of tigers until only a thin vale of trees cloaked his haunting black figure. He let out a low growl, warning them of his presence and darted off from his current position till he was about a yard infront of them, still covered by the dense film of trees. Snapping his head to the direction of the full moon, adrenoline pulsed through his body as a low, gutteral howl erupted from deep within his broad chest. That ought to scare them he callously thought, his golden eyes penertrating the forest in their direction.

Shiba looked back at the embarrassed tiger. Smiling, she padded over to his stuck paw and gently gripped it in her jaws. The fur was warm, and the scent of the animal, closer then she had smelled one in a while, was tainted with the stink of the marsh. She was about to free the limb when the howling split the peaceful night, causing her to drop Tybalt's paw and look over in the wolf's direction.
'It's been a while since I heard wolves in these parts.', she thought, feeling slightly edgier then usual. Shiba looked off in the direction of the howl, and discovered the golden eyes peering at the two of them. Taking a few steps forward, her huge paws making slurping noises as they touched the ground, she said,"Greetings, wolf. I ask you for safe passage through your hunting territory so my friend and I can reach my cave."

From the river Kenneth followed the two tigers. "Sorry for not being talkative." He said quietly. He watched the little fry jump for the bugs that hovered over the water. Heard a soft thud and looked to see Tybalt's paw was stuck in the mud. "Tybalt, you're lucky that you didn't walk right into that sinkhole." He said relieved that his new friend was OK. Suddenly a howl broke the normal hum of the night. He looked into the trees and saw golden colored eyes peering at them. ( terribly sorry for being gone for so long ;-

When Kenneth spoke, Tybalt turned his head to look at him. Oops. I forgot about him again, he thought, feeling guilty for forgetting about his new friend. He had been too distracted by Shiba. But he'd make it up to Kenneth. He wouldn't forget about him again!
At the next comment, the tiger licked his lips nervously again. He's right, he thought. If this had been a bigger sink hole, I'd have been doomed. He gulped at the thought. His horrific thoughts of what could have been vanished as Shiba lifted his paw in her mouth, trying to get him free of that wretched, smelly mud. He breathed in her scent, instantly feeling it drawing him in. He opened his mouth ever so slightly to better take it in, as cats often do. It was mixed in with all the stinky smells of the swamp, but it was still there, and still wonderfully feminine. It was nice to know that living in the swamp hadn't cloaked the female tiger's scent.
Suddenly, a howl cut through the air. Eyes wide, Tybalt's ears flattened against his head and his hackles rose. Instantly, he turned, trying to run away, managing enough force to finally free his paw, but he hardly noticed. Still wet and dirty with swamp water, while one paw dipped in mud, Tybalt ran full speed for the nearest tree. He leaped high into the air, latching his claws on it when at full height. He scrambled up a few feet further, clinging to the thin, wispy tree that swayed slowly, as if threatening to break under his weight. Fearfully, he turned his head, wondering where the wolf who had made the sound was. He saw Shiba staring in one spot and followed her gaze, but couldn't spot just what she saw.
((It's okay. I'm just glad to see you're back. : ) ))

Redlock trained his eyes on the pair, a smirk covering his maw. When the male tiger ran in fright to the nearest tree Redlock used all his self-control to not burst out laughing. Instead, the sound that emitted from his mouth was a twisted chuckle. The sound of the female tiger could be heard clearly though his ears still twitched at the sound. "Well you have been quite an inconvenience to me." Redlock began, stalking towards them, each step filled with confidence, "You see, I was hunting a deer until I sensed your presence and you completely threw me off my hunt." He was in plain view by now, though still a fair way away, always cautious. Redlock slowed his pace, and circled to the side slightly. He felt the female tiger was the only animal to be of a threat, so most of his attention was focused on her. "Now what am I going to eat for dinner?" he laughed with no humour, his golden eyes penetrating hers for any sign of fear. Sniffing the air, Redlock could smell a distinct fishy smell in the river nearby. Having heard the chatter of the dolphin before, Redlock was sure that that was the animal he was smelling, "Mmmm.." Redlock sighed with content, "I don't think I've ever tried dolphin before." He wasn't being serious, in fact, seafood never sat well in his stomach, and anything cold blooded tasted horrible to Redlock. "Of course, I could give you and your friends no further trouble if my stomach wasn't so hungry," he said, licking his lips. He hoped the female was smart enough to understand his demand.

Shiba's eyes narrowed as the wolf spoke again, and the fur at the base of her neck began to prickle. "I am very sorry that our presence disturbed your hunt, but I have no intention of filling your empty stomach myself.", she said, a hint of anger in her voice. Sensing the growing tension, she lowered herself down into a half-crouch, redying herself for an attack.
Despite her confidence in her strength, a spark of fear was kindling in Shiba's eyes. She had always feared wolves, although she had fought quite a few throughout her life. Her tail waved behind her, stirring up a few fallen leaves. 'I hope it doesn't come down to a fight, but if it does, I'll have to protect Tybalt and Kenneth.', she thought.
In the distance, Shiba could hear a bat fluttering out of it's cave. The crickets chirped loudly, the sound ringing in her ears. It was almost deafening, but she shook her head and focused herself on the wolf's yellow eyes.

Tybalt watched fearfully as the wolf spoke his demand. What a jerk! The tiger thought. Expecting us to get him something to eat... It's not our fault that he lost his meal. As Tybalt's heart began to slow, he considered coming down to try and fight this wolf off. He was a big tiger, and very strong. This dumb wolf would be no match for him! What the tiger failed to realize, however, was that he himself was a terrible fighter, too naive to win, too dim-witted. But, as Shiba refused the canine's demand, it gave Tybalt courage.
Cautiously, he climbed down from the young tree that still swayed under his weight. It looked certain that the wood would snap before he made it to the bottom, but it didn't. When Tybalt rested all four paws on the ground, however, he looked up to see the tree was now bent over, looking as if it might be that way permanently, or, at least, for a very long time.
Walking over to the she-tiger, Tybalt braced his paws against the wet ground and took on a ready stance. "That's right. I lost a deer in here earlier myself. It's not our fault you lost yours too," he said, letting out a quiet growl. It wasn't a particularly threatening sound. It was a warning not to try anything. But surely no wolf would attack a team of two tigers? Tigers are much larger and stronger than wolf. Surely he wouldn't try anything, right?

Redlock saw the confidence in the tiger as she refused him, but he also saw the gleam of fear in her eyes which gave Redlock more confidence. When she crouched into a pouncing position, Redlock immediately did the same, snarling while he did it. "Wrong move," he snapped, anger boiling from within. He calculated the area around them; the slushy ground would make it hard for the tiger to pounce with all her force. He himself was still on the outskirts of the muddy ground, standing on tree roots. This in itself wasn't the best position because the roots were slimy and had a thin coating of algae on them. Still, he was certain that he was in the better position for a fight. Just as he was about to propel himself toward the tiger, the male tiger came down from the tree.
Redlock snarled and snapped in their direction, his ears flattening to the nape of his neck, his coarse fur bristling at the sight of the two tigers now before him. "I see how it is, you need your boyfriend to come and protect you," he mocked, though was extremely frustrated that the male tiger decided to gain courage at that point. The female alone would be a tough battle, but one Redlock felt confident he could win for he had no fear of her and fear causes wrong moves. Now that the male had joined in it wasn't such a fair fight, even if he did look clumsy. The male isn't the problem, beat the female and he will run away! He probably doesn't even know how to fight, look at him! Redlock turned his gaze to the male, still snarling, But it's two against one, he can distract you and the female will get the upper hand.. Two tigers against one wolf would be extremely hard to win against, and even if he was able to take one of them down, the other would be able to finish him off. Such a hollow victory, he thought. Redlock was never one to back down from a fight and a battle raged within him to determine what he would do.
Slowly, he heaved his large frame from the crouching position, "I see now that I am outnumbered," he began, "I am not a foolish wolf so I will not enter into a battle against two tigers. But please, do not mistaken me for cowardly, if it's a fight you both want, it is a fight you shall receive. Just know that if I ever do cross either of your paths again, I will not hesitate to battle." Redlock snapped at the pair, "Now I have to find that deer again," he spat, resentment plastered across his face. With that, Redlock darted back into the trees and began sniffing the ground for any trace the deer may have left. Nothing. The trail had run dry and Redlock was furious, Dumb tigers, he thought to himself, I will have my revenge.. At this villainous thought, Redlock lifted his head once again and howled at the moon. Now, where is that cave she spoke of...

Shiba watched the wolf leave, her fur laying flat across her shoulders and neck again. Her long tail lashed for a few seconds, then she spoke. "I suppose we should keep moving, but stay on your toes. Something tells me he'll be back." And with that, she continued deeper into the murky swampland.
'He said that me and Tybalt were boyfriends.', Shiba thought, in a slightly bad mood. 'But we aren't. He is a nice tiger and all, but he is too young.' She sidestepped a sinkhole, her senses more alert after the encounter with the furious wolf. The dark peacefulness of the night soon washed away her irritation, and her calmness returned. A few more minutes of walking revealed a strange rock sticking out of the mossy earth. Dug into the side of the stone was the small entrance to Shiba's cave. "We're here.", she announced, stopping.

When the wolf snarled in their direction, Tybalt pulled his lips back, exposing his teeth. He gave a deep growl, then turned it into a short roar, his ears flat against his head. His muscles tensed as he prepared himself for the canine's attack. Then came the boyfriend comment. The tiger let out a quiet growl of frustration out of being mocked, but looked embarrassed. "I-I'm not her boyfriend," he stuttered, as if reluctant to say it. Try as he might to sound casual, it only half way worked.
When the wolf began to relax and voiced that he would not attack, Tybalt chose this moment to act, quite frankly, like an idiot. Already irritated with the canine, his warning seemed to go in one ear and out the other. "Yeah, that's right!" Tybalt spat. "You better run!" He called out loudly as he stood up straight again and started pacing in frustration. "'Cause I could beat you with my paws tied behind my back. You'd lose the fight and you know it!" The golden tabby tiger snapped, choosing his words out of his frustration, rather than confidence. Not that he wasn't confident. Tybalt usually held a confidence he should never possess.
When Shiba began walking again, Tybalt followed. Distracted in his rotten mood, he nearly stepped right into the sinkhole he had just watched Shiba dodge. He stopped with one front paw in the air, mid-step, and rested his eyes on the spot she had avoided. She certainly knew this swamp a lot better than he did. He kept that in mind by stepping only where the female stepped to prevent himself from getting stuck again. He knew if he wound up in a sinkhole again, he may not get out. Still distracted, the feline nearly ran into Shiba when she came to a stop. He caught himself in time, then moved to stand beside her. He blinked his amber and blue-green eyes as he tried to see inside the cave, though it was too dark and his eyes too accustom to the outside light to see. He gave Shiba a small nod whilst saying, "ladies first."

Kenneth watched the encounter form the river. He gave a sigh a relief when the wolf left. "I am sorry for not speaking, I don't really like fighting."He said to the two tigers. "I mean, what could I have done if it turned into an all out brawl?" He said jokingly trying to get their spirits up. "Seriously, what could have I done?" He thought to himself. Kenneth followed the two until the river curved. "I'm afraid, my friends that our paths split..."He said with a sort of sadness in his voice. "but I'll be close by, remember t stop by and talk to me once in a while." He said still with the tinge of sadness. Kenneth followed the river until it opened into a lake. "Hello new home.", he thought happily. He swam into four feet of water and fell half asleep.

Shiba watched the dolphin swim away, the murky water disturbed by Kenneth's swimming. Then she turned, and slipped into the darkness of her cave. She took a few steps down a narrow tunnel, then it widened revealing a small cave just big enough to fit the two tigers. 'Home, sweet home', Shiba thought happily.
She settled down in the far corner, legs folded under her. "You may sleep here tonight, then tomorrow I will help you to the edge of the swamp.", Shiba said to Tybalt, then stared at the wall opposite of her, where she had scratched out a rough sketch of her brother, Higu, his bulky build captured in a few lines. She sighed, and laid her head on her paws.

As Kenneth spoke, Tybalt turned to look at him. He gave a nod of his striped head, saying, "I'll be sure to come see you tomorrow morning before I leave." The tiger paused, realizing what he had just said. Tomorrow he would escape from this smelly swamp. Did that mean he wouldn't see Kenneth and Shiba again? He looked over at the female tiger, then back at the dolphin. He had only just met them, and yet, he would miss them. He didn't know if it was really a good idea to came back here again, though. He'd just get lost again. Shiba would probably help him to find his way, but that was only if he could find her and didn't get lost in some other part of the swamp, far away from her cave. No, it didn't matter. He'd have to come back either way. He couldn't just leave his new friends. His blue-green and amber eyes locked on his marine friend, he called out, "I'll make sure I come visit you again!" Watching as Kenneth swam away. Then, he looked back at Shiba. "That goes for you too. Although, I'm not sure if I'll be able to find my way around here next time either."Then, the tabby tiger followed the white cat into her cave. He didn't quite like how narrow the passage was, making him feel as if the sides of the cave were pressing in on him. However, he did like the back of the cave. It was small, but it was cozy. Tybalt laid his bulk down on his side, the front leg on the same side extended straight out from his body, while his other legs were curled closer to his body. Looking down at his paw, he could still see bits of various plants from the swamp, along with mud, stuck to it. Cautiously, he sniffed it, only to end up making a disgusted face. "Yuck! I still smell like swamp goo," he said, mostly to himself. He began licking at his paw then, repulsed by the thought of licking such a thing, but hopeful that it might get rid of the smell. He gave up after a few licks of the remains of the foul tasting substance. It was then that he noticed Shiba staring at something. Following her gaze, he saw a drawing that looked as if it had been scratched from the wall of the cave with tiger claws. Tybalt looked curiously back at Shiba. She was probably the one to make this picture, but who was it and why was it on the cave wall? Probably her mate or something... He thought sadly, his ears giving a twitch. The curiosity, however, drove him to ask. "Who's that on the wall?"((Aw, I'm sorry Shades. I've been having a lot of stress at my house, which is why I haven't posted. If you ever want to talk about anything, you can always pm me.))

Shiba's blue eyes left the portrait of her brother, and looked over at Tybalt. 'He sure is a curious tiger, isn't he?', she thought.
"That is my brother. His name is Higu." Though there were a thousand other things Shiba could say about her brother, she didn't mention any of them. Glancing down at her white paws, which were still covered in the putrid slime of the swamp, she began to lick them clean.
Once her paws were returned to their formal sheen, Shiba stretched, then rolled onto her side.
