Edward wasn't sure where Silthret was, or if she was even racing him. All he knew was that he had to keep running in case the tiger was following. If she was, he couldn't just let her win! The ermine only knew for sure she was following when she was close behind him.
Turning his head back to look at her as he ran, he gave a playful glare, saying, "No fair! You're bigger than me!" He narrowed his eyes a bit more, then turned his attention back to where he was going before pushing his short legs faster. He made a sharp turn, that would send most animals skidding across the ground, and continued on, hoping this little shortcut would be enough to beat the large tiger. If not, he could always try tripping her up by running around her feet. It had worked before. Maybe he could get on her back and just before she reached the river he could jump off.

Silthret didn't follow his turn instead she plowed straight through to the river. Her muscles bunched underneath her and wind ran against her face. She was definitely not the most aerodynamic animal, but she would make do with what she could. It got harder as the wind crept up and came against her, but she plowed through.
'Hmm...Where is that furry little monster.' She asked silently. A smile slowly appeared on her face and showed her menacing teeth. Furry monster, yes, he could easily be a furry monster. What with his array of loudmouth comebacks. He clearly had no concern for his life or else he would have ran away from her or put up a better fight, during her hunt. Her ear had lost a bit of skin, during that fight, though. She laughed. Yes definitely a furry, little monster of sorts.

It was a good thing that the tiger had not followed Edward. He had to duck under and through thick bushes that the bigger animal would surely not fit through. This shortcut could be used only by a few animals, and he was lucky enough to be one of them. There were good sides to being small.
The ermine ran a while, jumping over small rocks and large sticks, swerving around trees and bushes too thick to go through. Almost there.... Almost there.... He thought, the second time with more anxiety. He could do this. He might win.... He'd show that big house cat a thing or two!
Soon, the river was in site. Yes! He thought, though he didn't stop to look and see where Silthret was. He had one goal now, and that was to reach the water and win the little game. He would stop for nothing, and he would not slow down. His heart racing even faster than his swift feet, the ermine ran as fast as he could.
((Want to have them tie?))

(Okay) Silthret watched the little ermine a few feet ahead of her and a burst of speed fueled her to the rivers edge. They were neck and neck, she could do this she could win.
But no, she could not win, it was a tie. She wasn't breathing as hard as most would, having her agility and strength was always nice, but having strength usually meant also being big and being big meant that she could fit in small places, like the little Edward here could. A slow smile spread across her lips and it was sly and almost a smirk as she jumped into the water, splashing everything in sight. As her head came above water she said, "Well that was a nice cool down from a race, it was a tie if I'm right. " She smiled at the wet figure and waited for him to say something, or for him to become outraged.

As the weasel like creature began to pant, he ran ever harder. He was so close.... Just as he reached the edge of the water, he skidded to stop and turned to look for Silthret. His jaw dropped open slightly as he realized she was right beside him. Or at least, she was for the briefest of moments before she plunged into the cool water, soaking him.
The ermine closed his mouth and glared at her for a moment before shaking the water off his long fur. It wasn't a serious glare, just one of defeat. "No fair!" the little creature called, still shaking the water off his feet. "You're bigger than me.... He frowned, then smiled. That just meant to him that, had they both been the same size, he would have one. That was how he would always view this, but he wouldn't keep rubbing it in the tiger's face. Edward's mind only focused on one thing for a short time.
"Well, I guess we know who the real winner is, since I was at a disadvantage and all...." he said, grinning as he sat down. He wasn't so much bragging as he was joking around with his new friend.

Silthret rolled her eyes, but she was still smiling. "No, no, you are the one with such advantages, you are small so you can fit in small places, and take shortcuts." She said still smiling, but she had a defining edge to her voice.
She attacked him playfully and pushed him under the water. A small smile appeared at the corners of her mouth and she swam out, shaking herself off. The droplets of water that came off her soaked the ground around her, some plopping back into the water. As a final droplet jumped off, her fur frizzed up and puffed, she looked like a puff ball or orange, white, and black.
She didn't look back, for fear of humiliation, she just walked ahead, listening for the laughter that always occurred at this point. It was delayed laughter, but she was sure it would be coming soon.

Edward frowned at her response, then opened his mouth to reply again. He didn't have a chance, however, as he was shoved into the water. The ermine quickly resurfaced and gave a sneeze, water having gotten in his nose. As he dog-paddled through the water toward the bank, he glared at Silthret. It wasn't a deadly glare, like one might give after they were truly mad, but only a simply play-glare.
After he reached land again, the little creature shook himself once more, though not quite as much as the large cat did. It didn't do much good anyway, as he only became wet again as water flew from the tiger's orange striped fur onto his chestnut hair.
Determined to get back at his new friend for the dunk in the water, he quickly ran on his short feet and called, "Yeah and I'm small so I can also do this," before giving a large leap and landing on the tiger's back. He walked a few steps forward and stopped between her shoulder blades. A smirk on his face, he suddenly realized just how puffy Silthret looked, and burst out laughing.
"Look at me, I'm riding a big puffy orange cloud!" Edward jeered, still laughing hysterically.

Silthret felt humiliation strike her and she froze on the spot. What was she really that ridiculous? Of course she was, she had said it herself, she was a big orange puff ball. That was why she could never find another tiger within range of her, no mate, no friends of her own species, nothing. There was something wrong with her, something very wrong. It didn't matter though, because at this moment all she cared about was getting Edward off her back and hurting him ten-fold. A large growl erupted from in between her lungs and she quickly rolled onto her back and waited for a sound, a squish.

With a quiet yelp of surprise, Edward lept off of Silthret's back just in the nick of time. Once he landed, he turned back to face the tiger. "Hey, I was only jokin'!" He hastily said, blinking his emerald eyes. He stood on his hind legs and looked at her cautiously. "But you really do look like a big puffy orange cloud," he added. He didn't mean to insult or be rude, he just wanted to have fun and didn't know when to quit.
Easily distracted as he was, the ermine turned his head to look when he heard a chirp at the top of a tall bush. In it sat a brightly colored bird which he had never seen before. "Woah, look at that!" He thought aloud, seeming to have already forgotten about the "puffy orange cloud." It was a wonder he had lived this long when he couldn't stay focused for two seconds.

Silthret smiled at the little animal being easily distracted. She still looked up though and saw the bird. It was a most strange coloring. She turned her head in surprise. Most unusual, strangely colored birds could usually be found in the rain forest, her home. But this was a strange place for them to be out in the middle of no where.

Edward was lost in thought as he looked up at the bird. He wondered where it was from, what it's name was, why it was colored so, and so forth. He was thinking too many questions at once to pick one to ask it. Only after it flew away did he remember the present. He turned his head back at Silthret, and gave a small start, having forgotten she was there.
"So, what clan didja join?" The tiny ermine asked as he lied down on his back and looked up at her. He had to push his head back flatter against the ground, since he was facing her, to see, and as such, it flattened his small round ears and made him look a bit silly. "I joined Deterahn," he offered. He was more trying to think of something to talk about rather than really wanting to know.

"I joined Zilanthin, the rain forest has always been my home, so I think it would be the best place for me." She said as she looked at the tiny beast. She couldn't help, but let out a snort by just looking at the silly thing. She banged her paw on the ground in a bit of a fit, but then as vibrations from her paw went around she quicklt said, "Sorry!" But she couldn't keep a smile from coming onto her lips again, but this time it may have been more like a smirk. Just looking at the little animal, with his ears like that, made her smile if not laugh.

Edward opened his mouth to reply but stopped as violent tremors went through the ground, jarring him. The animal stiffened from the "earthquake," then quickly got to his feet. He shook his head a bit, trying to get the vibrating feeling out of his system. His eyes turned to Silthret, slightly widened.
"My gosh!" He sounded angry at first, but his next words showed excitement instead. "I knew you were big but... Wow. An animal that can cause an earthquake!" Edward's muzzle fell open in awe as he imagined the possibilities. "Just think if I could do that! Oh everyone would fear me! I'd be really cool and I'd be like-like..... Like a superhero!" The ermine grinned, not realizing that the vibrations were only strong for him because he was quite small.
Seeing the tiger's smile and remembering her laughter made him forget about being a superhero for a moment. "Hey, what was so funny, anyway?"

"A superhero, really? It's not so big of a vibration." She said slightly amused. "But your ears, you looked so silly, maybe you can be Laughter Boy, who can make any animal laugh with the slightest twitch of his fuzzy ears." She teased. She was amused with herself, she had made a joke. She smiled and looked down at the little animal, an Ermine. Small little creatures, very stubborn, too.

Edward wiggled his nosed and twitched his ears, not so sure if he should take what the tiger had said as a compliment or an insult. He thought about it a minute, then decided just not to reply to it. Still, he didn't miss a beat talking. "So do ya' live around here? Do you sleep in a cave? Or a tree? I heard cats sleep in trees. Is your home nice? Are there lots of animals to play with? Oooo what if there are big scary monsters that might eat you! Or predators... Well I guess that's not a problem for you. They'd have to be humongous to eat you. And orange.... Why would'ya wanna eat something eat? Have ta' be crazy or something....." He blabbered on, speaking very quickly.
His energy was clearly back, not that he ever really lost it. As he continued rambling on with questions about Silthret's home and life and about any scary monsters that might live there, he began running around. He run five feet or so, then stop and stand on his back feet like a meerkat, then repeat. Only after he had done this several times did he quit running and quit talking.
".... cause I mean a monster like that would be really freakin' me out and you never know who's side he'd be on or if he even liked the flower gift, ya' know?" At this, he stopped and looked up at her, waiting for her response. He had been talking about gifts you could give a monster to get it to stop attacking you. Was he always completely random and... weird? Yes.
