All was silent except the few birds that dared to let out their cries. Something was in the air. The breeze picked up and swayed the tops of the forest, the birds called out even louder announcing their flights as they took off into the sky. Monkeys howled their warnings as the leapt away. Something was coming. All had gone still and not a single thing dared to speak. They were unsure, puzzled, and slightly afraid. Eyes watched for something they could not see, for something that was going to come, on its way. They knew it, all knew it, and all could tell when something was up. It was in the wind, the trees, the forest itself told them the message. Something was here.
Something was here, among them, with them, around them. Like a cloak it surrounded them. The air took in a rather quick change, lighting up all the animals that had dared to stay senses. They could smell it well for it was near, they could hear things crunch for it was close, they could feel it in the air for it was now there.
It suddenly came out of nowhere, appearing from out of the thick musky air. A large feline, a tiger to be exact. He was well built, his muscles flexed with every step he took. He looked like the very essence of power and he carried himself like a leader. He continued on large orange paws, claws barely visible but could still be seen. The orange black striped tiger walked with a purpose, something was on his mind. The animals remained where they were, still uncertain of what was going to happen. This new comer was here for a reason but what was such a reason? Was it a rogue, a tiger to cause trouble, the latest bad thing to come the forest's way?
The air was thick with tension and Zeal could feel all eyes were on him. There was a tree and next to it a large rock, a perfect place for what he was about to do. As Zeal came up on the rock he rose up on it and planted his two front paws down against the rock and held himself there, staring all around him. "MY NAME IS ZEAL. I COME FROM A LINE OF MANY GREAT TIGERS AND I WILL HONOR THEM AND MYSELF BY CLAIMING THIS CLAN AND THE SURROUNDING FOREST, MAKING ME LEADER!" Zeal roared out into the forest, scaring some of the birds that had remained. They flew up into the air and started to squawk about what they had just witnessed and heard.
Zeal's heart was pumping and he felt great. He was filled with pride and was a very happy tiger at the moment. He would do well to lead this clan for many years to come. He looked back at Flame with the widest grin on his face. His eyes couldn't even stop sparkling. He looked at his friend and knew she'd be there for him for as long as they both lived. "So my darling friend, what do you think a leader does first?" He asked, barely containing all the good feelings he had inside.

Flame looked at the way that Zeal's eyes sparkled when he was done roaring. Her own heart was racing at the way the roar had sounded. It had evoked a fear, a respect for the tiger that was standing before her. She was proud to be his friend.
"Well, I guess you should go around and look for new members of your clan. You have to go around and mark your new territory too." She smiled at him, exposing her long sharp fangs. Her tail lashed back and forth at the thought of meeting new creatures. She had only met one creature here other then Zeal, and that was a small frightened lion cub. She wasn't sure where the cub was now.
She looked up above at the tops of the trees at the many colorful birds that had taken flight at the sounding of Zeal's mighty roar. She knew that this striped feline was powerful, their clan would be headed by a strong leader.

"My thoughts exactly! I wonder if we'll run into that tiger and other member any time soon? They have to know they have a leader and a new member now. Ah, marking my territory, something I've been waiting a loooong time to do." Zeal replied, still grinning. "You know I've been looking for something simple for a home all along, when now...I guess this whole forest is my home. How great is that?" Zeal asked as he pushed off the rock and walked around the tree, looking for the best place to leave his "marker". "I say what we need to do is meet with the leaders of the other clans later on, or at least with someone in the clan. Give them the message that I am now leader of this clan, you know?" Zeal asked as he swiped the tree, leaving one large claw mark before he marked his territory officially. He marked high on the tree, it was instinct for male tigers to do so.
He then proceeded to rub his fur all over the base of the tree for good measure. He wanted anything that walked by to know that this was his territory now, and his clan. "Okay, now off to mark the boundaries. I...don't suppose you know how big this clan home is do you?" Zeal asked curiously. He had no idea just how big his new territory was and just how many trees he'd have to mark. "Thankfully I had a lot to drink." Zeal smirked as he sniffed at the air, smelling his own odor wafting around, blanketing the area in his own scent. It was nice.

Flmae wasn't sure how long it would be before they met any other creatures from this clan. She gave a small giggle when Zeal said that he had always wanted to mark his territory. "Why would you always dream of doing something like that?" She shook her head as she laughed. She then listened intently as he continued to speak. "It is awsome that we were able to live here. I never thought I would be able to live in an actual clan before. It wasn't ever a thought that I... well... thought about before." She shook her head at the thought of that she had a place to call home now. A family that she could always turn to when she was in trouble. "No, that is one thing that I haven't heard, how big this place is. Although it must be pretty big to hide a tiger and a wolf. And for them to not have heard your roar and come running!" Her own ears were still ringing from that blast of sound.
Flame walked up to another tree and suddenly felt the urge to sharpen her claws, just in case they would meet someone that didn't agree to Zeal's terms, or a creature that would make a nice meal. The panther reared up on her hind legs and placed them on a nice big tree with rough bark. She then leaned her weight against it and raked her claws up and down the tree, flaking off the old dead peices of claw that were dulling them. After a few good strokes she felt that they were sharp enough.

He didn't need to give much thought to why he had been waiting for a long to time to mark his territory and when Flame was finished clawing, he had already found his answer. "Well like I've told you before I've been roaming ever since my parent's death. Never stopping to settle down, maybe have a family, or even a friend. Well...now I've come here and staying is now a fact. I have my own territory, my own home, my own little spot to call mine, and best of all, my own friend. So you can say I've been looking forward to this for a loooong time." Zeal replied with a smile as he stared up into the branches of the tree.
It was a rather large tree and clan meetings could surely be held under and in its branches. The rock could even serve its own role as being the thing that the clan members will climb on when they wish to say something of importance. "Well now we are both in a clan, and have a home of our very own. So I guess we'll be thinking about it a lot huh?" Zeal asked as he backed away from the tree. "I guess I'll be marking the clans territory all day then. Well, no one said being a leader was going to be easy." Zeal winked and stifled a laugh. He then started to walk away, the thought of marking his territory on his mind.

Flame took off running after him. She didn't want to be left alone yet. Especially in a place she hadn't had the privelige to explore yet. She didn't know what secrets were in this place or what creatures romed here. She did't want to have to face them herself. She kept her eyes and ears sharp, watching for any movement that would betray the presence of another animal or of prey. Nothing was moving. There wasn't even wind to rattle the foliage. Her ears almost felt numb at the silence. The birds hadn't made a single peep since Zeal announced his presence. She had thought that they would have sung, maybe with joy of a leader? Oh well, they must be dumb birds or something. Flame's golden eyes suddenly caught on a close by bush. She had seen it give a little quiver of movement. She immediantly dropped into a crouch. Her paws moved slowly across the ground and each pawstep ate up more of the distance between her and the creature in the bush.
((Do you think I should introduce Kudos to the two here?))

Zeal carried himself like a leader should as he walked. His head was held high and his chest was puffed out just enough to where walking wouldn't be slightly awkward. His tail was held straight out and didn't even drag on the ground even once. He had noticed the silence and wondered how long it would remain silent before life resumed as normal in the forest. Things seemed so different now. In just a single day he had met another big cat, got to actually swim for once, became leader of his very own clan, claimed the clan's territory, now has his very own forest for a home, and the day wasn't even over yet.
A slight rustle in the bushes grabbed his attention for a few moments before he resumed walking. He had a territory to roam, trees to claw and mark on, and find some members for the clan. A slight disturbance in the bushes didn't bother Zeal at the moment, not with everything that was now on his mind. Besides, it seemed like Flame was handling it anyway. She could probably take anything in this forest without a problem. Big cats knew how to handle themselves quite well. Even so, Zeal kept one eye on the bushes as they neared. If Flame ran into a problem then the both of them together would dispatch it with ease...surely they were more then a match then anything here?
((Sure, go ahead)

As Flame neared the bush she became more and more excited at the prospect of a next meal. Her bright eyes stared at the shaking bush closely, intently. When she was withing five feet of the bush she stopped. She didn't want the creature to notice she was there. Her hind end shook a few times as she prepared to pounce. Her muscles bunched tightly and her claws raked the ground a few times. Suddenly, she sprung forward and landed right in the middle of the bush with the creature trapped firmly beneath her giant paws. She waited a moment, then jerked her paw quickly when the little creature bit her. "Owwww!" Flame looked down at her paw quickly and noticed the blood beginning to drip from the bite mark. She then looked over toward the creature that was sitting in the bush and was suprised to find that it was a feline. Her eyes widened, as she had never seen a feline this small before. His head had to barely reach her knees! "I'm sorry sir! If I had known that you were a feline too I never would have pounced on you! I'm really sorry" Flame looked at the bristeling feline with curiosity and embarresment. She should have checked out what the creature had been before she had pounced on it. Now she had only made a fool out of herself, and almost commited what she would consider murder. She never killed another feline. At least the bite on her paw was like a payback for the inconvience.
Kudos had been happily wandering through the forest when a faint scrabbling sound had reached his ears. It sounded like potential prey, so he began to stalk it. He had been on the other side of a dense line of bushes from the two big cats, so he didn't know they had been there. Kudos reached a large bush and noticed the small grey head of a mouse poking out from beneath it. His pupils widened quickly, spotting every small twitch the mouse made. He waited until the small head of the mouse dissapeared back beneath the bush before he pounced. He felt something beneath his paws, but when he lifted them he found only a small mound of dirt on the side of a hole, a mousehole. He shook his head sadly at the loss of his prey, when next thing he knew he was pinned by massive black paws. His first instinct was to bite, so bite he did. His small fangs sunk deep into the paw closest to his head, and he was rewarded with having the weight taken off of his small body. As soon as the weight was gone he had arched up quickly and puffed up his fur. It made him look twice as big as he had before, which still wasn't very big. His ears were pinned back on his head and his lips were drawn back to reveal his needle like fangs. He had been hissing and spitting as the dark creature spoke and he noticed that there was something famaliar to the way she was speaking. He stopped his hissing to take a good look at the creature before him and realised that she was a feline as well. The only thing he heard her say was "I'm sorry sir! If I had known that you were a feline too I never would have pounced on you! I'm really sorry." He dropped his arched back and let his fur and lips settle back into their rightful places, and his ears perked forward as well. "Well, I suppose mistakes do happen, just DON'T let it happen again." He suddenly noticed the other form that was walking along here as well. This one was orange and black, and he had his chest puffed out like he was important or something. "Who are you guys?" Kudos noticed that both of the creatures were felines, but he didn't feel the sence of family that one would think that a fellow feline would feel. He was less then half their size, they could easily have eaten him if they wanted. Lucky for him the black cat didn't seem to eat other felines. He still didn't know about the orange one though.

Zeal stopped walking when he heard Flame start apologizing. He turned to face the...cat? Was that a cat? It looked sort of like one but it was so small. It practically hugged the ground! It would be a snack to big animals such as Zeal and Flame. Zeal knew that there were other species of cats he hadn't met yet, but he foolishly assumed that they were all big like he was. Now there was like a mini version of a big cat before them. It was interesting and odd in a way. He smirked at its words, maybe if he didn't look so much like a snack, it wouldn't happen again.
It may be small and practically defenseless as far as Zeal could tell, but it still was a fellow feline and that counted for something. "My name is Zeal, leader of the clan Zilanthin and this forest. This is my and my good friend over there territory that you're stepping on." Zeal said and nodded his head once. He figured that Flame would want to introduce herself so he didn't say her name. Flame's words echoed through his head. They needed some new members and to find some of the old ones. Perhaps this little one wanted to join? He'd have to ask it once Fame was done introducing herself and they got this conversation going.

Flame was still a little flustered that she had almost killed a fellow feline, so she didn't answer for a moment. But when Zeal spoke she snapped out of it. "Yes, and I'm Dark Flame. Everyone calls me Flame though." She looked down at the small feline and couldn't help wonder what he was. "What are you anyway? You look like a leopard, but your small like a house cat." She watched the cat with a confused expression on her face.
Kudos replied to both of them. "Hello Zeal, and Flame, my name is Kudos. I... I am sorry that I am treading on your territory, I didn't mean to. I was just looking for a place to live. I didn' t know that anyone ruled here. I... I guess I should leave." Kudos took one last look around him, wondering if this would be the last time he would ever see these trees, shrubs, bushes... He turned and began to walk back toward the bush that he had origionally seen the rabbit in.

"Wait uh, Kudos. I am the leader of a clan called Zilanthin, and we need some members. There are some old ones we have yet to find...but we'll find them eventually. We could use another cat in our group. Us felines need to stick together. If you accept, you will be apart of this clan and you can call this forest your home. I must warn you though, apparently these clans can be filled with any type of animal. Meat and plant eaters, feline and canine alike. To my knowledge, I don't think we have any canines yet, but if I come across any that wants to join, I can't hold their species against them. Of course if they are bad natured animals, I don't have to let them in so there are no worries." Zeal rambled on, trying to explain things as best he could to Kudos.
The few animals that had actually started to come back to life all of a sudden stopped suddenly. Even the wind died down to a light breeze. A strange feeling came over Zeal and he knew he was being watched. Of course he had been continually watched for the past ten minutes, but this was different. He could feel it in his fur. It didn't make his blood run cold, or send shivers down his spine, no, this was weird. He turned to look behind him to come face to face with a...deer? Was that a deer? Zeal's head snapped back and he started to back up. "How could you be a deer?" Zeal asked, his eyes wide with confusion and shock.
Standing before the three was Guardian Sheff, staring right into Zeal's eyes. He was a large deer, and still had his reddish brown fur coloring except with the fact that you could see right through it. "But...but I can see right through you! What is this...a trick?" Zeal asked as his rump hit a tree and he stopped backing up.
"No this is not a trick tiger, this is for real. I've been watching you ever since Dark Flame found you out there in the cold." Sheff explained while looking the tiger over. He looked strong and healthy enough to be a leader, but that was just looks, and looks were sure as heck not everything. "I am Guardian Sheff and I help take care of this land, this entire land, not just this forest mind you. Guardians protect this land tiger. We all make sure this land is safe for all animals that live here and we keep the peace. It is when new animals or rogues show up that we have a problem. A new arrival taking over a clan that has been around since I was once breathing is something very important indeed." Sheff explained. He was worried that this new comer couldn't handle the responsibilities leading a clan would take.
Zeal didn't know what to say, he was still trying to get over the fact he was looking at a ghost. Finally he realized just what Sheff was getting at. That he might be one of those rogues that could cause a problem. "If you...if you think I'm going to be a trouble maker then you're wrong. However, if animals challenge me, I cannot back down. This is my clan now, my territory and if I shy away from a challenge, then what does that say for me, the leader? I don't need to be looked after, I can take care of myself." Zeal pointed out, he didn't need to be looked after like some little cub.
"You may think you don't need to be looked after and watched, but it comes with the territory Zeal. The moment you took one paw step on this land, you came under our watchful eye. You became leader because we have allowed you too. Some think you are what this clan needs, others like myself are not too sure." Sheff replied and looked over to Dark Flame. "It is good that she has found you and is by your side. Her guidance will lead you down the right path, don't ever ignore her. She can be trusted," Sheff continued as he looked back over to Zeal. "but you...we are not so sure just yet." Sheff said as he started to slowly back away.
"Keep an eye on this one Dark Flame, and keep him out of trouble. He'll need your help now more then ever." Sheff told Flame before looking back over to Zeal one last time. "We'll always be watching you Zeal...always. If you are a true leader, then you will be able to take care of all animals in your clan, big cats...and small cats alike. Oh...and welcome to Amanija you two." Sheff welcomed Zeal and Kudos before fading out into the background for good.
Zeal just stared for what seemed like an hour before looking over to Flame and then back over to the spot of where Sheff had disappeared. "Uh...does this happen...often around you?" the tiger asked Flame, still staring at the blank space Sheff had once stood.

The two cats, large and small, watched agape at the shimmering deer that stood before them. They couldn't believe their eyes. Neither of them had ever seen anything like this before. They had both heard of ghosts, but they had thought it was a myth.
Flame was spellbound when Sheff spoke to her, and wasn't able to conjur up her voice. She simply stood and stared at the large shimmering deer that stood before them. He's been watching us?... For how long though? Flame knew that the deer meant them no harm, but the fact that he had been watching them all this time... wow. "I haven't ever seen anything like this before Zeal. This is my first ghost... guardian sighting." She looked over at Zeal only to find him staring tranfixed at the spot where Sheff had been standing only moments before.
Kudos was still standing still next to his two larger cousins. Strangly, his fur hadn't stood on end when the deer had appeared. He had felt a calm come over him, as if the deer was granting him protection from things. Like a guardian. (He didn't know that Sheff was a guardian) He looked around quickly when Sheff dissapeared. "Where did he go? Why was he translucent? What was he?" Kudos felt many questions bubbling up in him. He didn't want to aggrivate the two large felines, but he wanted to know everything. This strange land seemed to be bringing him more questions rather then giving him answers to the problems he already had.

"Really? By the way he talked about and to you, it seems like he knows a lot about you. I'm not sure on how to take this. Always watching are they? He mentioned 'we' and 'us' a lot, you notice that too? Just how many of these ghosts are watching us? I don't mind them protecting these lands, how they can even do that while they are dead beats me, but when they say they've got an issue with me without even knowing me...ya I'd say I've got a problem with them myself. They need to GET TO KNOW ME FIRST BEFORE THEY MAKE ANY DECISIONS." Zeal said out loud while scanning the treetops. If they were truly always watching, then they could hear every word he said.
He then looked to Kudos before looking over to Flame. "All I know is that that thing we just saw was a guardian and it's dead, which is why it's see through. If you want more, ask Flame, she seems to know them more then we do, or at least they seem to know more about her then we do." Zeal said and then walked away from the tree and stopped where the guardian had been standing. He didn't smell a thing that would be the guardian.
"So Kudos, now that you know we're being watched and somehow protected twenty-four seven, how about joining the clan?" Zeal asked half sarcastically, and half serious.

Kudos looked up at the tiger in shock. He couldn't believe that the tiger would want to have such a small creature like him in his clan. "If that's really what you want... then yes I'll definantly join." The small ocelot looked up to the panther. "Do you know more about those... things?"
Flame looked at Zeal with confusion in her eyes. "I don't know how they know anything about me. I've never seen them before!" She then looked up into the tree tops as well, watching for movement with unease. When the little cat spoke she looked down. She had forgotten about him since the... guardian... had appeared. "Like I told Zeal, I don't know anything about those things, I haven't ever seen them before. I don't know when they would have seen me..."

"Good, we have found a new member already! I'd say other then what just happened, today has been a great day. And here I thought today would be lousy and boring." Zeal smirked, he wasn't going to let the guardian thing get to him...much. He didn't want to spoil today's events with a sour mood. "It is alright Flame, lets try and forget about them for now. We'll deal with them later, how, I'm not sure but we will. Right now we need to focus on the things in front of us." Zeal said and nodded. There were a few things he wasn't sure about when one was the leader of the pride. Were there any rankings other then male and female Lead? Did the ranking follow what the mutts did? Were there any Betas and Deltas?
Zeal was hoping that Flame might know but he doubted she would. It didn't hurt to ask though, and she might actually know, so Zeal turned to face her. "Flame, do you know what the rankings are for a pride? I know there are male and female lead, but is there any other ranks, like what the mutts in packs have? I am not fully sure and I really, really, don't want to ask our little deer friend for the answer." Zeal said as his ears perked up. A raccoon was rustling in the bushes, probably trying to sneak by the three predators before they gobbled him up whole. Zeal just rolled his eyes and tried to ignore it as it slowly tried to creep away unseen and unheard.
